Termination of unvaccinated health care workers backfires as Biden pledges help amid COVID surge

…Hospitals in other states grappling with shortages amid the spikes have halted vaccine mandates while also activating the National Guard.

In Ohio this month, hospitals across the state hit the "pause" button on their vaccine mandates, pointing to legal reasons and staffing shortages. And Republican Gov. Mike DeWine activated 1,050 Ohio National Guard members to assist with hospitals.

"We’re pretty much running full steam 24 hours a day, particularly with ICU as high as it’s been, it really takes a toll on our caregivers," said Ohio Hospital Association director of Media and Public Relations John Palmer.

Iowa meanwhile is spending more than $9 million to hire out-of-state nurses to cope with a spike in hospitalizations. The state will pay nurses through a Kansas company, who will be expected to work 20 hours of overtime at $330 an hour.

The staffing shortages, terminations and now the spikes in omicron cases have not been lost on critics, who are calling the problems "government created."

That New York is hardest hit by this should surprise no one. The sheer and utter stupidity of firing or laying off first responders during a pandemic is something that would be obvious to anyone not a blue city or state elected leaders. It’s time for these places to rehire their fired workers or lose them to red states who will hire them.

The article didn’t source that claim as far as I could see (unless you count “according to New York health data provided to Fox News.” I’m wondering how greatly staffing shortages are actually a result of vax mandates vs other factors such as burnout and retirement.

Did a search of the numbers they provided and I’m just finding sources pointing back to Fox.

 

Or.....they cared so much for their own health/safety, they chose not to get stuck with an experimental vaccine.

that can also be read as Kansas has plenty of Nurses, so many it's renting them out

Do you realize, hospital icu's must run at 80% capacity to stay afloat? It's a normal occurrence, so when the media tries the fear mongering, "omg, icu's are at 90% capacity!" That's not the big deal they'd like you to believe.

Los Angeles kicked out over 100 firefighters/paramedics for refusing to consume this pharm product. Here in earthquake country, someone thought it was a good idea to have fewer first responders so that when seconds count, help will be a few minutes late.

 

Several red states have openly advertised that they are hiring first responders and medical personnel fired in blue cities and states and some are making the move to those states.
