I remember hearing a couple years ago from a friend of mine to look out for a guy known as Johnny Football and I never forgot his name because what he told me blew me away.

That he was at some stadium and before a live crowd, he threw a football from the VERY TOP of the stadium nosebleed seats in the upper level and made a basket through the hoop of basketball goal they had on the stadium. Not once, but TWICE!!!!

Once you can chalk it up to a miracle fluke but TWICE!!!! no way.the guy is an extremely rare talent.from what all the experts are saying, they expect the texans to pass on him though. I guess they must not be aware of that amazing accomplishment he achived. Kurt Warner also thinks basically thinks they are crazy pretty much if they pass up on him.listen to his comments.

Watch the distance and accuracy when he's running and then throws off the back foot. Pretty impressive. Whether he can stand the punishment of the 300 pounders whacking him remains to be seen.

    I like Johnny Football.

I base my "texans should take him" theory on why Jacksonville should have taken Tebow a few years back.

    Heres why

Jacksonville needed a qb, they were not very good, and attendance numbers were at an all time low. Sure, Tebow was a risk.... (but who isn't coming out of college to some extent)

Here, Jacksonville had a huge opportunity to draft a hometown boy, that would pack butts in seats. Remember when Denver announced he was going to start against Miami Dolphins, how the DOLPHINS sold out for tebow?

Worst case scenario with Tebow, was he would suck, they would continue to suck as a team, they'd waste a draft pic, but meanwhile, they'd at least sell out the place. At this point, they still suck, they wasted that draft pic but now, they STILL haven't sold out a game in how long?

Best case scenario.... Tebow rights the ship while selling out the place.

With the Texans.... a lot of the same things can be said. At this point, wether houston takes Manziel, Bridgewater, the kid from central florida, or even Clowney..... they are all risks.... it's all a coin toss as to which one of those kids will excell and which will flop, in the NFL. So why not take a hometown boy that is EXTREMLY popular in the state of Texas and that will put butts in seats.

for any of the others to put butts in seats, they HAVE to win
for Maziel to put butts in seats, he just has to suit up. If he then wins, he DESTROYS attendance records.

I was constantly amazed at how much Manziel did for Texas A+M. They were a 4 loss team that, without Manziel, would have been fighting for bowl eligibility. Duke, was overall, a better team than A+M.... but Manziel took that team on his shoulders and beat the Bluedevils

First, there is little doubt in my mind, Tebow has had some bad deals.

Manziel has two more years of eligibility. Will he go early in a draft? Who knows?

You have made some logical presumptions, but Houston Professional Sports is a quagmire. Talk is big, but I am unconvinced Houston wants winners. Astros really cracked at the door, been crap since because the great players are traded for crap or become free agents because of the money. Rockets are hot, cold, and lukewarm.

The Texans, not the first team n Texas to have that name, came to be because Houston quit supporting the old Oilers

I hear you on the unconvinced they want winners theory...

Jacksonville seems that way to me, too. They passed up on Tebow for a PUNTER if I remember correctly. There's probably a lot of shadiness goes on in professional sports where winning isn't necessarily the goal like many would think naturally.

Opportunity costs.... sure, anyone can go out and pay what the Yankees do for a winning team..... but the sliding scale of fans that will then buy tickets. But in theory, there is an economic efficiency point where marginal player salaries vs team tickets sold.... it would make sense that you could maximize profit somewhere at less than spending a gazillion $$ chasing a championship you still may not achieve.....
