So, Texas had erected barbed wire which prevented Border Patrol access to the border and to their boat ramps, and the issue was escalated to the Supreme Court which quickly rules in favor of the Border Patrol so they can get to the border. Now Abbott responds with this declaration saying Texas has been invaded, which basically gives him war powers under Constitution Article 1 - 10, which basically says States shall not engage in war unless actually invaded (which is means as an emergency measure to slow down a military invasion).

"No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."

Good. One of the very few things Abbott has done in the many years he has been governor.

What? Sedition? He'll have to obey the Supreme Court ruling. I don't know how he thinks he'll get away with it.

I see there was another thread about this already.....

The whole state depends upon Mexican labor, who is this guy kidding? How about working with Biden and the GOP to come up with a comprehensive solution that does not include cruelty? We did it for this jerk with the disabilities act that let him wheel himself up ramps and park in the best spots. Hell, he even has his own toilet everywhere he goes.

No troops in time of peace... Maybe red states should start amassing troops until the federal government gets us out of all these wars they keep dragging us in.

There is no cruelty in preventing human smuggling and death and tape due to it, when they can easily cross the border and claim asylum the legal way.

The feral government is not dragging us into wars.

I remember the Vietnam War, we protected South Vietnam, killed over a million of them, but we protected them.
Same in all the other countries we 'helped'.

So quit your griping, or the govt will bankrupt us.

Oh there is cruelty alright and Texans seem to love it. Not sure why they hate Mexicans so much, the whole place is filled to the brim with Latinos and they sure has hell love to talk about Tex-Mex food. But one thing is for certain, if a conservative Texan loves more than Reagan its anyone who punches down on Mexicans.

Their first love is someone who hurts Mexicans and their second love is someone who gave them amnesty?

You do know it's more than just Mexicans that are coming across the border right? Are we supposed to stereotype all of them as "Mexicans" ?

How many more millions of illegals do you think we need?

The degree and size of the groups crossing has increased massively and this coupled with cartel terrorists and drug involvement.
The cartel does get involved in shootings and attacks at the border. And they are also deeply rooted I the Mexican government. With the amount of deaths due to fetynol and all the damage they are causing our country, I'd consider them entering our country an invasion.

Again I repeat, this **** has been going on for sixty years why now is it an invasion? Why did former Republican-led governments in the US not change the policy of US immigration?

They wanted cheap labor. What makes you think the republican-cartel is the same republican-party today? Maybe MAGA is what has changed? No more not caring about the border because of cheap labor and Republicans who are excited about business being able to take advantage of illegal immigrants who cannot complain about deplorable working conditions.

It's easy to drive up to a check point and ask for asylum if that's really why they are here.

The cartel makes money directing them and can use them to sneak drugs via illegal entry.

    Simple: Its fits the narrative.

He release the same letter in 2022, but this time he did it to declare his intent of defying the Supreme Court ruling, so could be seen as sedition. We shall see.

I agree, unfortunately, Texass was admitted to the union with a treaty and not the usual contract.
