Texas Gov. Greg Abbott directs use of buses to drop off migrants at steps of Capitol in DC

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that undocumented migrants released into his state will be shipped to the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., as border checkpoints struggle to manage the flow of people attempting to enter the United States and the Biden administration's move to eliminate the Title 42 expulsion provision.

The state will provide charter buses to drop off migrants – many released into small Texas communities that officials say are overwhelmed – in Washington, the Republican governor said in a news conference.

"We are sending them to the United States Capitol where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border," Abbott said.

He noted that cities along the Texas-Mexico border have bused migrants to San Antonio.

"So I said I got a better idea. As opposed to busing these people to San Antonio, let's continue the ride all the way to Washington D.C.," Abbott said.

The first location where migrants will be dropped off is the U.S. Capitol, officials said.

W. Nim Kidd, chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, said his agency will "use as many buses as we need" to follow Abbott's directive…

This is great news! Texas is sending them to DC and Florida is sending them to Delaware. We need to fight them on this matter and this is a great way to do it.

 

This is the article intended for current events. The two governors are right to do this and Abbott is right to add more to the wall.

We've had left-of-center posters advocate for dropping them off in red and swing states - I'm sure they'd agree with this tactic.

I'm pretty sure the mantra is "Just win, baby."

 

I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if it actually happens. Wouldn't be the first time a politician made such musings without any intention of following through...

 

Sounds like a load of B.S., from a governor just trying to keep up a national profile, in advance of 2024, in case opportunity presents itself. The story, and presumably the Texas governor's administration, were very short on details, other than that they will charter, "as many buses," as they need. Does that mean they will just be giving out free tickets, to any illegal alien takers, who want to be part of a huge publicity stunt? I wouldn't imagine there would be a lot of volunteers. And, between the Mexican border & D.C., there would, normally, be some rest stops-- how would they keep their passengers from getting off, along the way? Is it going to be like a prisoner bus, with armed guards?

More likely, @modernpaladin called it correctly, as a bogus claim; and FOX is just doing what they do, helping to spread silly stories (because they apparently can't find enough serious news to report), to be a force- multiplier, in the propaganda war, against Democrats.

Funny, I can't recall seeing any of those posts you describe. It doesn't sound typical of a Lefty reply, either. If there were any, I would bet they were (or it was) in response to a Righty poster, advocating for something, akin to this story. Could you post an example of these posts, or do you remember the thread, or the left- of- center poster's name? Otherwise, since this is not that old, of a "big story"-- only since the migrant lassoing incident; then the throngs, being kept by the highway overpass-- yours would seem a rather vague recollection, on which to base your claim.

 

The let’s go Brandon regime has been actually doing just that very thing. Dumping these illegal enemy invaders right into red communities in red states. Notice also how little of this immigrant surge is happening to New Mexico and California.

 

That’s true. I hope they do it too. Have to do it one bus at a time though otherwise the federal regime might protect a blue state from the entry of a convoy of buses from a red state. That’s how they’d use ICE or what’s left of it

From what I've been reading here, a number of folks are actually thinking that Abbott won't actually do this.

I'm one of them, although I would love for this to actually happen. I'd personally rather the people get shipped back to Mexico City, but Washington DC would do well as a second option. Or Seattle, or Portland, or San Francisco, or anywhere right in the back door of these creep politicians who intentionally allow this invasion of our country to occur.

illegal immigration issue is huge in Texas. Abbott isn’t going to set himself up for doing things about it and have them either be non existent or so minimal it’s bordering(hope you like puns) on symbolic.

Maybe the wall he’s restarted won’t have progressed much due to logistics/money. Maybe this bus thing won’t have progressed much due to logistics/money. But you can bet he’s going to maximize both for the sake of his political career at this point if nothing else. “He’s not going to do it” is simply absurd.

 

He made it voluntary. They should just be shipped right back over the wall, but I guess when people who think it's ok to be invaded by illegals actually have to put up with the extra expense of school programs, gang violence, higher crime levels, people committing atrocities and going back over the boarder and such they will rethink their attitude.

 

Why would he ship Hondurans and Guatemalans to Mexico City? And it wouldn't be "back" to Mexico City, as i doubt any of them have ever been to Mexico city.

Because they came across the Mexican border, so they were already in Mexico... They can go back to Mexico from whence they came.

The point is that these people came through via the Mexican border, so they can get shipped back to the Mexico side of the border from whence they came... This would be much easier to handle if we had Trump's border wall fully constructed.

 

We can't deport non Mexicans to Mexico.

For now, we could have the ones who claim asylum, wait in Mexico, but only as long as the Mexican government allows it.

For the non Mexicans who cross illegally, and do not claim Asylum, we cannot return them to Mexico, it's not legal.

If I was Texas Governor, I'd take it one step further and send these Illegal Aliens to the homes of every registered Democratic voter in the United States and tell um, you support this, you take um in and pay for it. Force um to do this, and it'll be fun to see how many Liberals convert to Conservatism.

Have you accepted any of them into your home and if some of them were to set up camp in your front yard, are you ok with that regardless of whether or not they have a violent criminal history from wherever they came from. Some of them are child predators that are unvetted, if you have children are you ok with that.
