Again, how does this change anyone breaking in to a federal building? Please explain to me how that is suddenly gets you off the hook.

Breaking in and walking around is still breaking in, "letting them in" is just as bad.

The Capital Police allowing people in and they being charged is almost entrapment. I don't recall that all the protestors who shutdown the Kavanaugh hearings and occupying the capital for hours were ever arrested and prosecuted on this scale and with this much verve.

    "Almost entrapment"

Which of course discounts the violent horde of MAGFilth beating the cops beforehand.

Considering this was a mind-blowing event that many of us have never seen here before, and that well over a thousand people involved were arrested and at least charged with something, I might have to disagree. And again, how they get in or who let them in still doesn't mean they weren't breaking and entering and going nuts.

Well said! ......And the "popo" were seriously outnumbered and over whelmed to the point where they had to take turns and breaks from combat on the front lines. A very violent day of infamy for the sole purpose of a malignant narcissist wanting to keep power after a democratic defeat.

No way they could, but this is after the fact. We KNOW now that the vast majority were just seeing the sights, and not violent. So it objectively speaking was mostly peaceful.

So I guess that means we're just gonna let everyone off the hook for breaking in in the first place, right? That's totally how the works, right?

Only 527 incidents out of a population of 30 million is fairly small and a great reduction over the last 50 years in regards to white supremacists. You cannot eradicate white supremacists overnight, but over time. This should be hailed as good news that racism is on the decline!

And, by the way, the Tribune is know for a Left leaning bias.

Don't complain or say anything about the total destruction of Western Civilization. That's racist!

Oh. What is "western civilization" as it pertains to the US? How is it being destroyed?

If you saw my posts earlier, I said racism in Texas has come far along over the last 50 years. It only rose again the last few years once Democrats fought to allow criminals and drugs to flood across the borders along with a million migrants. That will cause racism to spike.

Blaming the victims is weird enough, but I grew up in rural Texas. I still have family there. I visit there all of the time. This sounds like BS. And my experience is less than 50 years old, by the way. Hell, my home town didn't desegregate public housing until the 90s and was still considered a sundown town back then. In the late 90s/early 2000s, a local coffee shop got caught hosting weekly KKK meetings. Some of those guys still show up at Waffle House now spouting their ****. Hell, in the early 2000s, I was given a KKK business card by someone at Walmart. Hell, there was a pretty famous racist dragging death in the neighboring county. This **** runs deep, man. My own uncles warned me about what they would do if I ever dated a black girl. And there's still a church in the area that open calls interracial marriage a sin. They are proud of it. My own church was divided on the issue.

Since you have such great experience and I appreciate that. Do you things have gotten better or worse over the past 50 years? How is it today in comparison to 10, 20 or 30 years ago? I never saw such extremes growing up in Florida. It is a big melting pot down here so you get all walks of life, but no conformity except in rural areas of which I don't know much about. It would have been hard for me to not knock the person out who gave me a KKK card, seriously. I did run into a blatant racist two years ago that my band hired to play a festival with while we didn't know until the show when he mention the N word. Cut off ties after that as he bragged being involved in a big biker gang and was a massive dude.

I'm 40 years old. I can't tell you how much better or worse it has gotten over the past 50 years, only the past 40 years. Anti-gay stuff? It's gotten a little better. Anti-Semitic stuff? Much better. Racism? Depends on the race; overall the incidents are less common but the extremists are getting more extreme in some cases. The biggest change I've seen has been with anti-women stuff, which has gotten WAY worse in schools.

Interesting. If you don't mind elaborating on the anti-women stuff. Not familiar with that issue. Thanks!

I am not sure how to change all peoples minds in regards to racism. Eventually over time, I reckon it can be weeded out, but it appears to be happening slower in Texas. I experienced racism by police in Florida while driving with my black friend. It was an eye opening experience to have six cops calling us pieces of ****, but we held our cool, told the truth, were respectful back at them even though they were really bad and after a night in jail, they dropped the charges even though my friend had it worse than me. Evidently, they thought we were some gang members they were looking for. We were just going for a drive up to the corner store . . .

I can definitely do so, and I appreciate the response. So, when I was growing up, there was a lot of sexism: men were to be the leaders and women subservient, etc., and some of this even appeared in schools, even in some of the student groups I was in (and certainly in my church). But there was also an idea that men should be gentlemen and respect women. Of course, this was full of obvious contradictions. However, even the most misogynistic guy at my school would never give me a hard time about defending my sister or my mother and treating them as equals, even if they were raised differently. I was bullied for being too effeminate and occasionally had some anti-Semitic comments thrown my way, but I actually got some respect for the way I treated women. (Aside: this also saved my hide in many situations; bullies stopped messing with me because their girlfriends told them I was a good guy and they should leave me alone).

My sister is now a teacher in that very same school. She overhears students all of the time talking about some of the most misogynistic stuff you can imagine - idolizing Andrew Tate, parroting red pill/incel talking points, taking their queues from pickup artists that they saw online, etc. It isn't like I didn't hear stuff like that growing up, but it was always in either hushed whispers or kept to the locker room. It's out in the open these days. I've mentored a couple of boys and this ALWAYS comes up.

If, at that age, I talked about women the way I hear kids talk about women now, my dad would have whipped the tar out of me and I would have been thankful that he did so instead of telling my mom.

Wow. Thanks again and some good eye opening intel. I did read an article about some 12 year old kid who said Tate changed his life and he went from bullied to popular. It is easy to see how impressionable children are which is why I am against Trans dancing in front of children until they are of a certain age to understand and make their own choices. But, I accept everyone, except extremists and racists, because we are all struggling in this world to get by.

There are a lot of good things that you can pick up from Tate/pickup artists/red pill folks, it's just that the overall philosophy is toxic. TL;DR, confidence is sexy, and the easy mode for being confident is being an *******. But there are better, healthier ways to be confident that can lead to healthy relationships.
