Its so funny to hear a non-Christian tell a Christian that they're not Christian. Just hope that they have an O2 tank with them on that pedestal of theirs....

At the time, it was done out of an understanding that if amnesty were granted, then border security would be enforced. That never ended up materializing, however.

You can read more about that here: An Amnesty by Any Other Name... | The Heritage Foundation

Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me (cis.org)

The 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act had at its core a grand bargain that provided amnesty for the illegals already here in exchange for "employer sanctions", i.e., a ban on hiring future illegal aliens.

It seemed like worth trying at the time. We all know now that the 1986 legislation failed because the open-borders folks got their amnesty up front, and their promises to support enforcement of the law in the future were abandoned.

But what I hadn't remembered was how soon after Reagan signed the bill in 1986 that the anti-enforcement people started trying to welsh on the deal. In my library-purging, I came across a report from MALDEF and the ACLU entitled "The Human Cost of Employer Sanctions", which concluded that "we believe it is time to reconsider employer sanctions" — published in 1989! Likewise, a 1990 report from the National Council of La Raza, entitled "Unfinished Business: The Immigration Reform & Control Act of 1986", says "Congress should repeal employer sanctions." In other words, once their amnesty program was well underway, they immediately wanted to go back on the very agreement that caused immigration hawks to reluctantly accept the amnesty in the first place.

The point for a hypothetical Romney administration is this: No commitment from the anti-borders people to support future enforcement in exchange for present amnesty can be trusted. Just as with any proposed tax-hikes-for-spending-cuts deals, where spending cuts have to come first or they'll never happen, enforcement has to come first in any immigration discussion, or it will never happen.

It's so funny to watch people call themselves Christian when they haven't a Christian bone in their body.

Who are you to say who is and isn't Christian though? Sounds to me like your pedestal is awfully high there.

The sad part is other POTUS's have given amnesty since then also. Enough is enough though. Its time to put enforcement FIRST before ANYTHING else is accepted. And only AFTER enforcement is done should we consider even reformation of our immigration system. Otherwise it will just get tossed aside again. As they've already proven that they will do, and you've shown here.

Who are you of all people to judge me as not a follower of Christ? You take one segment of scripture, and use it for a talking point. Jesus never used the "government" to feed the masses. He used a miracle of God. Individuals are the hands and feet of Christ, not the hand of government that now promotes child trafficking and drug importation as well as making cartels rich. Jesus said the poor you will always have with you. As an individual, what have you done to feed them Daniel? Jesus never said there was a way to feed everyone. That is something you made up. That is Danielism.

No, the problem is one side exploiting immigration to line their own pockets and entrench their power. Yes, some Repubs have joined in that exploitation in the past, but they are being ousted. McConnel being one of them. We aren't giving up. Perhaps in the future we will know who is coming in, we will let in the best for what they can contribute, we will know their health and criminal records, but most of all, we will know who the children are and who is overseeing their welfare!

Remind me again when Reagan was president?! Seems maybe it was a few years again and several administrations later.... Didn't the Democrats control the house during his administration?

    That isn’t actually true.

George W believed in immigration reform, and he tried to interest the GOP in it. DeLay and Hastert blocked him at every turn.

They knew that the talk radio right wing, with its core racist values, would never support helping brown people.

So, the killed Bush’s call for immigration reform in the cradle. That was 2005.

He tried again, in early 2007, but the effort was doomed from the start.

The GOP is not interested in immigration reform. Hasn’t been since Reagan got his bill passed forty years ago.

The campaign in it relentlessly, and never miss a chance to dog whistle to their “white nationalist” extremists.

Which is what they are doing now. Again.

The GOP has been doing that for forty years.

And nobody is trying harder to exploit the fear and weakness of the white nationalist crowd more than Trump, DiSantis and Abbot.

They know that they can get the skinheads and losers to cheer for them if they keep the brown people down.

So lets just keep having Democrats coaxing them here, and allowing them to continue to flood in.
Hopefully Abbott will send a busload to your front lawn.

Yet just over a week ago, Trump demanded that the border deal be voted down, even after Senate Republicans made a bipartisan deal. !!!!!

Now we are back to blaming others. !!!!

And why was a "border deal" needed at this time?

The reason the historic flood is happening in the first place, is due to Biden's invitation, and his policies. Had Biden never entered the White House, the flood would have been more in line with historic levels, and much more manageable.

But not particularly funny to see bigots, hate mongers and facists try and pretend that they’e “Christian”, when they actually mean white.

    Which brings up a thought.

Since all state militias are part of the National Guard, Abbott can recruit his rent an army, build his base, and watch the Federal Government nationalize the whole thing!

because Republicans are shouting to the world how easy it is to come, they are inviting them to come, so they come

not only that, Republicans are blocking any attempts to address the issues and even teaching them loopholes in current laws
