I know that other threads exist but my thoughts are more general than the attempt to get on the midterm ballot. I really don't see it happening (I DO think it has the support to end up on the ballot though) but it's still something to consider. Hawaii is another state in a similar situation and California and Vermont are also secessionist strongholds to say nothing of the 'The South will rise again!' crowd. If Texas does vote for independence in the midterms, other states will follow (in voting, I can't say if they would actually vote for independence) potentially destabilizing the Union. The Federal Government would be hard pressed to stop a peaceful disunion lacking popular support (Americans wouldn't support civil war over a peaceful separatist movement), economic power (states leaving and taking their economic strength with them and the impact on the stock market) and legal support (the SC's position on the constitutionality of succession wouldn't actually mean anything to independent states and the UN's position on self-determination brings up the fact that the Constitution holds treaty law at an equal position to constitutional law). What are your thoughts on this possibility and do you support it? If you do support it, is that support based on self-determination or are you yourself a secessionist?
texas has a lot of military bases that give the state a lot of income and work and then theres the loss of highway funds etc, then will the people back it if they are threaten that there social security checks will become void and others would lose there benefits disability etc
As I said, I don't expect them to vote for independence. My question is more about where you stand on the question rather than if you think it will happen.
sounds ok to me i heard texas wants there gold back 1 billion to base there state currency run there money system if they secede.. http://www.learcapital.com/news-blo...-wants-its-gold-back-from-ny-fed?bhst_id=5093
If Texas leaves, they will lose huge amounts of Federal funds. they will lose money for Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, S-CHIP, Section 8, TANF. they will lose Federal high money. and tons of military money. many companies would leave and move to the USA most of the folks who vote against secession, would also move back to the USA basically, Texas would suffer for decades
it appears there working on a 2017 completion plan on building a Texas Bullion Depository. to store it.. http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews....l-for-the-states-own-bullion-depository.html/
but theres a counter they can start there own retirement system up, and the loafers or slugs leaches will leave relocate right away to other states, thus there productivity will sore and GDP.
Those that want to secede, move them to the southern border, cut the state in 1/3, 2/3. Give the secessionists the bottom 1/3 along the mexican border. Remove all military bases in that section. Remove all fed funds and let them start over. See them become the northern part of mexico.
they then can charge a huge fee right to pass for train freight and truck loads going too and back from mexico
And they will cut off money to illegals and flood the rest of the mainland with them. It's funny how London can break away but a huge state can't.
Texans wouldn't pay any Federal taxes. Texans wouldn't have to pay for the Dept of Energy, or Education, and many other agencies, as Texas already has redundant agencies. Texas will give the 225k active duty Texans the option to serve in Texas. We will also not have the world police function that the US has. Texas can concentrate on defending Texas. Toyota could be contracted to build light military vehicles. We can build a fleet of simple fighters along the lines of the A-10. Bell Helicoptor and Lockheed Martin are already in Texas. So are Texas Instruments and Raytheon. The military would be cheap and simple until we can afford to upgrade and modernize. Texas has energy, from natural gas, to oil, to wind. They also have refineries. Texas has agriculture. We could quit making ethynol and grow more food. The US will have military comittments that they will be hard pressed to fulfill with 225k people missing. Shipping around Texas will be a problem, unless we have mutually beneficial trade agreements. You'll need access to our ports or you'll have to change how cargo gets to the middle of the US. You will need Texas technology to keep your military up to speed. Texas wouldn't be the only country suffering for decades. That's why it will never happen unless there is some kind of financial or social collapse.
Excellent post. The left will tell us we can't survive without Mexico but can without Texas. The only good news is the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys not being allowed into the country.
Canada .. UK and the euro s hows us the modern way to separate.....50% plus 1 vote to secede gets to secede this separating is not like the north and south where men were against men.. This is conservatism verses liberalism If hillary wins the election a good chance an exit will come from the whole south and the other conservative states from tx up to montana...IN FACT on the border of montana is the most conservative province in canada ALBERTA they would then secede from canada and join the other conservative states with alaska and make THE CONSERVATIVE STATES OF AMERICA..... now this is NOT like the civil war where men were against men and the north had more men... Conservatives is more men and liberals are more women... guess who has the REAL POWER HERE?
Would be only what they would deserve, to support such a foolish move. Like you said (or inferred?), the SMART people would leave Taxes (oh, sorry, I meant TEXAS) and not remain on the sinking ship. All they gay people would leave because, for goodness sakes, the Lt. Governor blamed the VICTIMS of Orlando for their own deaths.
