I love that they are picking this hill you die on. Most Americans do not care about this the only ones that do are the ones devoured by anti Trump rhetoric and the numbers are dwindling.

When these people die on this hill must people will scoff and say under their breath "idiots."

    Think about the Russia thing.

I don't disagree. Goodness knows it's why Trump has felt he could get away with things ever since he settled with the DoJ on the housing discrimination charges. Few people have ever so undeservedly escaped prosecution and conviction for a multitude of crimes.

You might be right about that. But it shouldn't stop the 1/6 committee from pursuing justice. After all, we're talking about an attempted coup.

Evidentially they are confused because they have no authority -- as in none, nada, zero, zip -- to file criminal charges in a federal court, which you said they did. Or was that just a typo?

Their job IS NOT to just "uncover all they can, issue their report, then let the public decide what to think and let Garland decide whether to prosecute." Their job is to find out all they can and, if they chose, pass legislation that addresses what they found out. If they uncover criminal activity and they wish it be pursued they must make a referral to DOJ; they don't just issue a report and hope the AG reads it.

Like I said I know you think it's worse than 10 Holocausts but it wasn't.

It was just a riot. Hyper focus on this is not about Justice it's about vengeance.

And seeking vengeance will simply destroy you and good eliminate yourself as an enemy that is great. The more Petty childish Democrats that focus on this for their vengeance the more might actually get voted out of office because they're stupid and they're wasting time on nonsense.

I support this. Please die on this hill so when the pile of corpses are there we can push some dirt over them and get on with life.

I hate to tell you but we already have an ignorant electorate. That's why elections never fix anything.

Because it is expensive and pointless. On the plus side it does distract the congress from its job which always a positive thing.

It's not pointless, otherwise you wouldn't want to halt it's work. That you only want to adjourn, "EXPENSIVE" as it is", proves your motives are political, not budgetary or lacking purpose.

Actually is isn't a distraction, Congressional Committee work is normal and part of the function of Congress. The "Committee" hasn't caused Congress to miss a beat. Even IF the "beats" are fewer than expected, it's NOT the Committee's fault.

It is clear you don't know me at all.

    Darn, that's a shame.

Pointless to try to get to the bottom of who was responsible for the attempted coup? Nothing is more important for the survival of democracy.

Yes it’s pointless when all you’re going to come up with is the same thing everyone has told you for months. There was a protest that got out of hand and people violently rioted at the capitol. It wasn’t planned, you’re not gonna find a smoking gun and you’re wasting everyone’s time by pretending this was some grand conspiracy to overthrow the government.

Our democracy isn't working very well. Just look at the mess we have in government. The committee isn't trying to find who is responsible. It is trying to pin it on Trump. Pointless.

That is an assertion devoid of evidence. Something you'd already know if you dispassionately examined the evidence they've uncovered.

But not devoid of common sense. Tell me you believe this committee would still have been put together if Trump had been on a foreign business trip. Tell me you believe that the committee would have been launched by a republican majority house.

What, then, other than your flip "it's expensive", it you're reasoning for wanting the Committee to go on hold?

The best we get is a report from the scam committee... referrals at best... if only we had this devotion to investigating election fraud .... if only we had this devotion to investigating the communications and lack of security that allowed Jan. 6 to happen... if only we had this devotion to actually investigating a politician who blackmailed another country using US tax payer money to coverup his family's crimes......if only we had this devotion to investigating and getting our people and allies out still left behind Taliban lines to this day... if only we had this devotion to investigating Russian collusion of the real people involved...

    Nothing here, move along....

You need to get familiar with real coups. Where were you from 2017 through 2021?

I found it a bit strange that Trump bounced around the idea of issuing an executive order barring Biden from winning the election and whatever those documents were about seizing voting machines.

It seems like there should be some distance from an incumbent and either of those options/privileges if he or she is running in the election. In fact, it seems like a POTUS shouldn't be able to do either period. What prevents somebody doing that to steal an election for an old crony?

Living in CO. Plotting to reject certified slates of electors from various states in order to give Repub controlled legislatures in those states the opportunity to steal the election from the voters and hand Trump the presidency is an attempted coup.
