Did he really have to be such a dick? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2106441/Defiant-banker-leaves-ONE-cent-tip-133-leaves-additional-tip-waiter-REAL-job.html?ito=feeds-newsxml .....to a waitress who may actually work harder each day than he does? And could someone possibly be more passive-aggressive than to put a political statement on a restaurant receipt? This guy may not actually even be part of the 1%....but his actions, aside from the actual economic statistics, are the type of thing that gives people impression that some of the 1% are a disconnected collection of Dooshbags.
I don't think this has anything to do with the 1%. This just shows that one guy is a real dick. Lots of 1%ers are giving enormous amounts to charity and are generous with their tips. But if this story is accurate that the employee who uploaded the picture says he is a very wealthy banker, then it just makes this guy a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bag.
He's a dick. Even if I get awful service I still tip 10%. The bus boys, cooks, etc... often share the tip. When I was young my girlfriend was a Peppermill Restaurant waitress. I understood from her trials what it meant to get screwed over on a tip. What I also learned is that this kind of crappy selfishness does not know economic boundaries. She got shorted from rich, middle-class, and poor alike.
Turns out this is a 100% Hoax Here is a source even you left wing zombie's will have to bow to.... http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/02/28/1069048/-The-1-tip-story-Hoax-?via=blog_2 I had reservations and now feel foolish for giving this any credibility, but I didn't have time to vet it like CNN and other National (Democratic Party) News Media sources that aired it. dirtbag leftist liars strike again.... I wonder if CNN will run a follow up sharing the hoax?
I should have known. They have to keep those class warfare fires burning until election day to cull their gullible sheep.
Lately, Liberals are more and more willing to lie, misrepresent, take out of context, and outright make things up more than ever. I think it is desperation.
I did not hear this story on the news. Do food servers make up that much of a voting block for this story to make any difference? They seem to be universally despised by the poor and rich alike (not unlike used car salesmen) and someone stiffing a server to make a political statement seems like a null void for opinion impact. A bizarre story and even more so since it fabricated.
It did seem hard to believe. A lot of news outlets were running with it though. Still......Tip your waitress a fair amount people....
I agree. I don't blame you. The news outlets did not do their job. You don't have time in your day to vet CNN. If I see a story that I don't believe, I look for another "news source". If I can't find it, then I skip it. In this instance, you had every reason to believe it was true. CNN, CBS, etc... covered it. They failed... not you.
I've never received such horrible service where I felt the need to leave a lousy tip. 15% for average effort. 20% for above average. Most of the time, service is rarely an issue. If the food is bad, thats not really the server's fault. I have walked out before the food got to the table once or twice. Never stuck around long enough to eat the food if the service was that bad. I worked a summer in college as a server. Fun job actually, but its hard work.
I don't stiff food servers, even if the service is bad. They just get a smaller tip. I will say that the media's coverage of the event is a massive left wing fail.
