I’m a swing voter, not a democrat. No Thanks. You need a fresh, younger face at the top of the ticket with an experienced VP.

people are saying that michelle obama is considerably more qualified and experienced than the last president, and most of us survived that debacle.

people are saying Madea is funny, doesn’t make it even remotely true. She has zero experience, this is the presidency not a hall monitor job.

Not a Donnie supporter, but since when did you care about the truth?

can you imagine trump's "law clerks?"

while a law degree is not necessary for a position on the supreme court, some amount of work ethic and ability to "play well with others" would seem minimal.

You don't really think Michelle Obama is going to be to take a backseat to the old white man. Do you? I would love to see the Democrats run that ticket.

She had a front row seat in the corridors of power for 8 years, harvard and princeton grad, law experience and is a great orator. The oratory ability, alone, doesn't make one automatically good for the country, but it does help get elected. She's good enough for the task.
Trump conned a lot of people, Trump is a demagogue.
Michelle is no con, she is authentic.

Trump was a Democrat when he had Celebrity Apprentice because most celebs are dems and being a dem would curry favor with them, he needed to attract them to his show. When he decided to run, given that Dems have the super delegates and the DNC is not likely to choose pro-Trump SDs, noting that Repubs tend to appreciate the super rich more than Dems do, it made sense that he became a Republican. In fact, Trump has changed his stripes 6 times in his life. He's an empty suit, he's whatever the opportunity demands, but he, as a human being, has no core values and he has no core values because he has no empathy; he's a sociopath, of the malignant narcissist variety.
She would help Biden win against Trump in 2024, and that is objective #1.
You forget, she's not running for the presidency, she'd be running as VP.

She would help Biden win, and that is objective #1.

Biden would be president, and if something happened to Biden, she would be gaining experience as a VP. Her 8 years as first lady, a front row seat to the corridors of power for 8 years, means that she would learn fast.

So did the pastry Chef. Maybe we should make him the Secretary of State?

I certainly could have anticipated you hearing the name Trump and then you going off an an irrelevant tangent. You asked what Trump did that indicated he was a good candidate, and the answer that he beat a strong field of candidates and developed a large loyal following, which is most definitely is a spot on answer to that question. You are not talking about Michelle displaying her political chops, rather you are talking about placing her there with the assumption that she will be a good candidate. That is an assumption I would never make about literally anyone, but if you want to fill your number two slot with an assumption, have at it. I suppose it is not any crazier than an 80 something old man with clear cognitive decline. I very much welcome this suggestion because I sincerely believe it would be a poor choice for Democrats.

I have forgotten nothing. A VP should be ready to take on the number one job from day one. A fair amount of people are not going to trust an unrpvoen political neophyte to be prepared to take over the number one job. It doesnt matter what Democrats think. It only matters what independents think. Independents are not in love with Michelle like democrats are.

You believe she will help him win. I believe her inexperience would be exposed and she would be a net drag to the ticket.

This is all opinion, and we have both stated our case. Lets not make this into a non stop marathon. Im not sure there is much else for either of us to say.

With an incredibly stupid comparison like that, I should say not.

The next person you'll probably compare Michelle to is Sarah Palin.

Clearly, you can't tell the difference.

Stupid or poignant? Being in the vicinity of political leadership does not make one a political leader, and the pastry chef is a perfect analogy to illustrate that concept.

This is not that bizarre of a concept. You are the one acting as if being able to read a teleprompter, having an Ivy League education, and being in the presence of leadership is the sum total of what makes a great candidate for VP and the presidency, regardless of the reality that you have never seen her treated with anything other than the kid gloves of a first lady.

It is YOUR position that is worthy of indignation, NOT the other way around. Her time spent at the White House means almost nothing, just as does the time spent there by the pastry chef.

With that being said, I sincerely hope that you get your wish and she is placed into that role. Unfortunately, I do not believe for one second that the powers that be in the Democrat party would be nearly so foolhardy or naive as to choose that course of action. We can both sit back and share in the hope that they do however. At least we have THAT in common.

Harvard and princeton grad, she has given a number of oratories on par with her husband. She's very familiar with the nuts and bolts of the office.

    She's a leader.

If she ran, she'd garner the big crowds like Barack did.

If you think comparing her to a pastry chef is a valid comparison, then I pity you.

    That's just pathetic.

Yeah, Americans don't care about character or qualifications anymore.Might work. Just saw the movie 13 Days about the Cuban Missile Crisis. JFK, RFK and one advisor really worked a miracle in averting nuclear war. They don't make Democrats like they used to! I couldn't imagine any of the "token" Democrat possible candidates holding a candle to those guys! They either have to be a likeable grandpa type, a black female. or gay. Those are the only qualifications needed these days. To heck with any real crisis that might arise!

Clearly, there is nothing to your argument, or else the number 2 and 3 candidates, to Biden, would have been Harris (who got knocked out, early) and Buttigeig (who never had a chance). As far as running someone who is "likeable," it is interesting that this doesn't seem like a good strategy, to you-- and you are apparently not the only Republican, who fails to see the wisdom of this.

I think they would have better luck if the ticket were Michelle as president and Joe as VP but either way I would still vote the other way…. Not as if you didn’t expect that.

I would hope that "more qualified than Trump," will not satisfy many on the Left, as the new litmus. I would have to agree with @Buri and @FAW , on this one, that Michelle Obama (from what little I know about her), does not stand out as one of the more qualified candidates, in the Democratic field. As far as the ridiculous argument of @FatBack , that Obama would garner additional votes, of those who would consider it "racist" to vote against her, any such people would already be voting for almost any Democrat, simply in opposition to Trump or DeSantis.

Of course, this whole idea is nothing serious, but was an idle stirring of speculation, just to draw in online "clicks." Obama has said, on a number of occasions, she does not even want to run for President (and I'm sure that would then apply, as well, to Vice President). Some people who say this, are actually serious, such as Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, who would both be an extremely effective candidate, and someone who is much better qualified, than Ms. Obama. But he didn't want to put his family through the invasive media gauntlet, and their loss of privacy (though Obama's reasons, seem likely to differ). There are numerous others, however, should Biden not run-- and I'm not referring to Hillary (who checks the boxes, when it comes to knowledge, but obviously not in likability).

In all likelihood, though, Biden will be the Democratic candidate, even if Dems prefer to fantasize about others, at this early date. And it is hard to imagine Joe, dropping Harris-- the first Black female Vice President-- as a running mate (or his appointing her to the SCOTUS, even if that opportunity arose-- though I guess I couldn't utterly rule that out). IOW, unless Harris, herself, decides she'd rather do something else, the odds strongly favor another Biden - Harris, Democratic ticket, in 2024.

Here's a Democrat ticket that might be likeable and appeal to you.....Kevin Costner and Oprah. Likeable to most, but I still couldn't imagine them in the Cuban Missile Crisis or any thing close. Why? Because the Democrat mentality seems to put "entertainment" above practical problem solving! Buttigieg doesn't have a chance? I don't know about that. Seems he might be appealing to the "woke". Your dislike for Trump or DeSantis reveals a dislike for serious, get the job done candidates. Those are the ONLY two that fit the criteria IMHO! But they happen to be Republican.

I very much like serious, get 'er done, candidates: but there is more than that, to the equation-- for example, WHAT they get done, and HOW they do it. Trump, there are many reasons I could give, why I would never vote for him, but I will leave it with just the first, completely objective disqualifier of his: he refused to share his tax returns with the public. We DESERVE to know that anyone who serves as our President, has no financial CONFLICTS OF INTEREST. Despite all the allegations from the Right, about Biden, he HAS shared his tax returns; not revealing who one is doing business with, is an automatic deal breaker, for me, and would be, for ANY candidate.

What has DeSantis got "done?" All I have heard about, are his make- believe wars against teaching history (which he mislabels as CRT), and against mentioning that there are any romantic possibilities, beside the most conventional one (which he masquerades as his protecting children from pornography). I'm sure, if he were elected, he would also prioritize the "fight" against atypical personal pronouns. All this is useless, or worse, in my opinion.

On top of that, as Florida Governor, he is flying newly arrived, legal immigrants, in Texas, up north, to Martha's Vineyard: not my idea of serving Floridians; and chartering private jets for such stunts, is a waste not only of his time, but of the state's financial resources, that is, of the people's money. Meanwhile, the real estate prices in Florida-- once a relatively cheap place to live-- have gone through the roof, far outstripping the rising cost of living, elsewhere. And, topping off his self- serving actions, was his efforts to hide the FL statistics of Covid deaths, from the public, in what seemed his reckless & authoritarian (overruling locally applied precautions) way of dealing with Covid. Claims that he handled things the right way, are inconsistent with his then not being open, about his state's statistics. As if there were need for any more reasons to think he'd be a poor President, he is now trying to exploit Christian voters, and is shamelessly advertising that God made HIM, "on the Eighth Day." Egos that grandiose, are problematic, wielding all the power, of our Presidency.

As for your assertions about Democrats, worshipping celebrities: the only two Presidents we've had who have previously been media celebs, were Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump. Care to guess, which Party's standard, they both carried?
