    Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: "You are just in these judgments, you who are and who were, the Holy One, because you have so judged;

I just noticed this while reading through the Brick Testament :D It seems the writer of Apocalypsis (Revelation) believed that there was an angel in charge of the water. Interesting, huh? I guess they thought there was a kind of governmental system in place with Yahweh in charge and a bunch of busy bee angels running everything.

I wonder which angel was, or which angels were, responsible for Sandy? Was that all 'just' as well?

    Continuing on a bit,

    Revelation 16:8-9
The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire.
They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.

Interesting idea, this. How is the sun supposed to do that? Even an intense solar flare couldn't do that.

Don't forget about the magical angel at the pool of Bethesda. When he stirred up the waters people would be healed. But a person had to be the first one in the pool. There were no prizes for being second.

Angels should be the least of your concern.
This is a very traditional (close copy*) image of Jesus, John and baptism (not sure how christians call it)

the guy riding the fish on the left is Jordan (yes, the river) and the other on the right is ... the depth (of the river)

*In classic iconography there was an "original" icon for each scene from the bible that artists had to copy , for example i remember from college that the first icon of the ascension was made in the monastery of Agia Aikaterini , Sina and all the others that follow till today are it's close copies.

    in some utter old stuff

the epithet of “the mare's mouth fire” (Newman, 1987, pp. 229, 481). Based upon a study by the American Indologist, Doniger O’Flaherty, we would like to devote a few considerations to this peculiar phrase. The myth of the so-called “doomsday mare” has a long tradition in India. The customary tales tell of how she is held captive at the deepest point of the ocean and how flames stream continuously from her nostrils. At the end of time the monstrous horse escapes its watery prison and sets the whole universe on fire. “The fire of the mare's mouth drinks the waters of the ocean and lets them out again; eventually this fire of the underworld will destroy the universe, at the end of the Kali age”, we are told in the Indian national epic, the Mahabharata (O’Flaherty, 1982, p. 213).

    called the doomsday mare .....

When the time has come, Kalagni rises up out of the lower layers and step by step burns down the world, the planets, and the stars

    ..

Let us also not forget that at the end of the eschatological fire occasioned by the doomsday mare (Kalagni/Candali/Kali), it is not she, but rather the yogi as ADI BUDDHA who ascends the world throne.

It is particularly striking that in the myth of the mare the apocalyptic fire comes out of the water. (The fiery mare is to be found in the depths of the world’s oceans.)

    yogi?

    and boo boo

When David saw the angel who was striking down the people, he said to the LORD, "I am the one who has sinned and done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall upon me and my family."

I don't get it. The angel in charge of the waters used to be Yahweh's hatchet man?

Of course, baptism didn't even start with the Jesus myth. It's one of many older ideas that was simply taken and repurposed.

They probably got the idea of baptism washing away sins from seeing the Hindi ritual in the Ganges.
