Quantum mechanics, theory of relativity, God particle ....theoretical physics. I cannot comprehend all these stuffs though I racked my brains to try to get something out of these theoretical trashes but to no avail.

I do not think they can or these theories can explain or answer we all want for millenniums. Religious pr philosophical or theoretical answers are not convincing as well.

As thinking animals we all want to be answered and our ancestors tried, racked their brains timelessly but what they arrived at cannot satisfy us.

Is there consciousness? I mean cosmic consciousness that drive or move the rest of us, the universe? I do not believe in creationism . I subscribe to evolutionary theory but when it comes to the beginning of the universe I cannot rely on the hypothetical ideas scientists have arrived at.

I therefore want to answer myself through metaphysics and though I do not subscribe to theological gods, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and the rest of stuff. I read J Krishnamurti , Jung, and the like. The ancient scriptures like the Vedas are full of revelations. Some books like the Asthabakra Gita give some clues.

I do not think science alone does not suffice and we must go beyond science to find answers or we have to stay unanswered until our death. For we cannot stay satisfied without being answered.

I like to be open to all sources of knowledge or revelations. While I am a bit skeptical or agnostic I do not subscribe to both theism and atheism. I want to go beyond these peripheries. Maybe transcendentalism is a near word though it is not the exactly I rely on. I want to break through all set limits and try to understand myself and my relationship with the universe.

My suggestions: Tom Campbell (My Big TOE [theory of everything]) and F. Louis Szot/Ambassaor Szot (The Starmaker's Apprentice). You can also get some unique insight from George Green (Handbook for the New Paradigm and Embracing the Rainbow, Vol.II)

There are three words that can fix this situation for you, these words are beautiful in their simplicity and ability to expand human understanding. They create an atmosphere of growth and exploration that has led humankind to wonderful discoveries and advancements. These words can defeat the differences of culture, religion, ignorance and hatred if used properly.

    I DON"T KNOW.

True. Yes we do not know but we do not stop at it and go further and inquire. We are naturally inquisitive people and because of this inquisitiveness we have been able to do something worthwhile. We have so many answers now and of course this is due to the inquiry we have made or else we would have been in the caves like our ancestors

I don't believe in the biblical story of creation but neither am I willing to blindly accept that the earth and its creatures are the result of some kind of chaotic randomness.

I'm unsure. I'm not going to deny the logic of science over someones purely faith based beliefs. At the same time, science and the human mind has limits as to what is "knowable". There is a video out by Carl Sagan explaining the 4th dimension. There are things math or science make us aware of but are unexplainable. We humans are only "wired" to understand so much...until of course, we take our next step in evolution or as some put it, ascension.

    In other words;

    We Don't Know
. It is totally Okay to admit this, and in fact is the only way we eventually might.

Well your (and my) inability to understand these possible explanations doesn’t make them wrong. Maybe the kind of answers we’re willing and able to accept just don’t exist. Maybe the true answers are such that most or even all of us are simply incapable of understanding or acknowledging them. Maybe coming to terms with that is the answer in itself?

There is no such thing as “beyond science”. When you look in to these other sources of information, you’ll still be applying a form of scientific method (albeit, maybe not well). You’re seeing claims, building hypotheses, seeking further evidence and reaching conclusions.

Nothing wrong with that but you still need to intelligently assess the information you get from those sources. Problems here occur when certain sources are declared outside or beyond science and therefore not subjected to any kind of formal assessment or challenge. That might give you an answer but it will be no better than if you’d blindly accepted any one of the “scientific” hypotheses instead.

I don't know, and it doesn't really impact my life all that much. Personally I assume there are people out there much better educated than me trying to work it out. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, no big deal either way.

The thing is the answer will just lead to more questions. Anyone gullible enough to think that scientific findings are going to completely disprove or prove religious belief would be better off paying attention to other things.

Of course science could have arrived at certain truths and yet science suffers its own limitations. I cannot rely on science alone for all I think about or believe in. Call it spiritual or religious there are something man is capable of, maybe his intuitive powers or his capacity for thinking beyond set parameters. Even among scientists are some believe in something we call collective consciousness others do not. Logic, reasoning does not suffice and we will have to take different measures to understand the world

That’s not science’s limitation – science (still) has no limitations. It’s you who are incapable of relying on science, not science being incapable of being relied on.

You’re basically working on wishful thinking. You want there to be something you can understand to explain everything but are unable to identify one. By coming up with these fantasy concepts “outside science”, you’re imagining an entirely different area for your answer to exist in, one in which you can define your own rules and remove any barriers or complications. That might be enough to satisfy your need and if so, good for you, but when you start projecting it to the rest of us, you’re going to face some challenges.

That answer is a copout. You only have two options when it comes to this: it came out of nothing, or something brought it into being.

so YOU'VE decided there are only two options. talk about cop outs :)

Actually it has no answers at all. It has some old myths, lots of violence, and the magical power to comfort grown ups.

Can you think of another possible alternative?

whether I (or any human) can think of alternatives has no bearing on the potentially infinite number of possibilities. or are you saying only things humans dream up can be possible?

How could you possibly think it would be better to claim you know when you simply do not know? Sorry, but that just makes no sense to me.

We do not know what the options are for what came before the "big bang". Let's remember that time itself is a construct of our universe - as is space. Let's remember that we can detect particles blinking in and out of existence - so where does that lead?

There are scientists who are thinking about this problem. But, suggesting they have things boiled down to two options is just plain not true.

Well, what other option could there possible be? We know everything is energy. So, either energy always existed, or it popped out of nowhere. There are no other alternatives to this.

    - - - Updated - - -

Infinite numbers??? Can you name a single and solitary alternative besides the ones I gave?

I don't know that EVERYTHING is energy necessarily, but whatever EVERYTHING actually is, it exists and that is all we know. Can you show evidence that the universe began at some point?

I was referring to the universe and everything in it. It's all energy, or different forms of energy.

As to your question, which universe are you referring to? The continuously expanding one, or the one that was in a extremely dense state?

What do you mean which universe? What you describe is the same universe in a different state or form.

Different state? Well, here's the problem. If the universe always existed, it would exist as it always existed. So, if it was always the singularity, it would remain the singularity for eternity.

Unless you want to argue that it popped out of nothing....
