I don't agree. And, I'm an atheist! Anyway, you identified the "money" issue. And, while I agree that there are charlatans in every activity on earth, I don't see any validity to your claim that Christianity is founded on a message that is oriented to reaping earthly wealth. If it did, we'd see something in the Bible. And, in the bible, the prelates take a beating while the apostles get no bucks.
I'm pretty impressed by Matthew 25 from about verse 31 on (as there is more than one message in this chapter). It describes how a believer may lose his salvation due to behavior on Earth. I should mention that almost all Christian divisions believe salvation is not permanent - that it may be lost. This is a statement far more infactic than the golden rule, spelling out clearly how we are to treat each other regardless of how we would accept (or expect) ourselves to be treated. And, it covers issues that are serious issues today in America - immigration, healthcare, prisons, care of those unable to care for themselves, etc. Under pain of eternal damnation Christians (and the rest of us?) are required not just to help those we run into, but to search out those in need help - whether they are unseen in hospitals, in prison, or where ever they may be. The new testament describes a God of love, not of conditional love, not love of those like ourselves, not love of those we like or approve of.
The poster said that he is knowledgable about the Bible and teaches it. I was hoping that he would share his views with us.
In Matthew chapter 25, the Jesus character is saying that it is a good thing to gouge Gentiles with high interest rates. Remember, Jews were not supposed to charge each other interest on loans. The rest of the chapter repeats the idea in other parts of the Bible about the Jews being the chosen ones and the Gentiles being the goats or the unwanted ones.
2 Corinthians 11:8 (CEV) = I robbed other churches by taking money from them to serve you. http://www.thebricktestament.com/acts_of_the_apostles/accept_communism_or_die/ac04_32p34-35.html 17 pictures After those two were murdered, the other folks forked over their cash on a regular basis.
There is no such thing as being saved. It is just a silly superstition designed to control the more superstitious folks and to get their money. Moses is the classic example of the religious extortionist.
Figure of speech. He needed money to serve the Corinthians. Do you really think Paul actually robbed them? How idiotic. Jesus said to pluck your eye out if it offends you. Did he mean to actually take your eye out? Jesus said we had to eat his body and drink his blood. You aren't that stupid. You must think I am to play your silly game.
When the Jesus character told the crowd that they had to eat his flesh and drink his blood to get eternal life, they told him to go to hell and stopped following him. He never did say that he was just kidding and using a figure of speech. John 6:35- 66= https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john6:35-66&version=CEV;ERV;NKJV;TLB;CEB
Look, I'm an atheist, too, but your efforts to misunderstand are really over the top. And, your blatnat unwillingness to understand isn't going to change anything - ever.
Did you read the passage? The crowd believed exactly what the Jesus character said. He said that they had to become cannibals in order to gain eternal life. He did not tell them otherwise. They became disgusted and took up another hobby. Joseph of Arimathea continued to believe so he stole Jesus' corpse and ate it. That is why the tomb was empty. Joseph got sick and died.
You remind me of the boy who disfigures all the pieces of his toy, and then complains about it not working the way it should.
Thank you. Over years I have asked the same questions and always Christians have avoided them. Another failure. It's 23.15 hours here. Have a good day.
There is an explanation to the genealogies. It helps to understand The Law. Also, Luke is the son of man, Matthew is the Kingly line. Here is a link to explain it. The Bible is correct and flawless. The problem is People's ignorance. https://zondervanacademic.com/blog/why-are-jesus-genealogies-in-matthew-and-luke-different
