A lot of folk like me who view today's Comey presser as something so far outside the rule of law as to infuriate folk have been comparing the process with justice found in banana republics. I disagree...Yes, in a banana republic we see crony capitalism, just like here. In a banana republic we see selective prosecutions and the rule of law applied based on who one is, who one is connected to and sort of a legal 'too big to be prosecuted', just like here. Where we differ is in remedy. In a banana republic we often see government changed overnight through coup. One group of crooks is replace by another and things continue on pretty much as before BUT, the first group of crooks is often shot or driven out of the country, often minus their ill gotten gains. In America we get the corruption but have no safety measure. The same crooks remain as 'elder statesmen' and talking heads, or lobbyists, proud members of the old boys network. because it is impossible to sweep the corruption away, it simply grows... To lighten up the discussion, here is a nice short video highlighting some of the Clinton lies that were forgiven in the reality of 'too big to prosecute'...
