If memory serves me right, SARS lasted from a November of 2002 to July of 2003, and was not near as widespread. Additionally, the Coronavirus has made more people sick and cause more casualties than SARS, with over 100,000 globally. This would suggest SARS was closer to the seasonal flu than the Coronavirus, though they come from a similar family of viruses.

While it’s true the flu kills more people, there is a vaccine for the flu. But not the Coronavirus. If we want to make it political, the two candidates running for president need to suggest how they will empower organizations like the CDC for pandemics like this. Conspiracy theories have already arose, suggesting it’s biological warfare.

No evidence proves such theories correct. I read quite brilliantly stated that the Coronavirus is Trumps Hurricane Katrina. Just with more economic consequences.

The first patients in China were treated from 8 to 18 December 2019, with the cause unknown. Shortly thereafter Chinese scientists defined the new virus and named it as COVID-19.

So this new virus has had about a three month run so far. It appears to be a mild virus, at least in the USA.

The Corona Virus has not caused 100,000 deaths. The number is more like 4000. It has afflicted 100,000, which is a far different reality.

The left desperately wants to make this "Trumps Katrina", but I doubt it will work. Overstating the death toll by using non precise terms like casualties, thus maximizing panic, is certainly part of that process.
