No not really. People have rights including self-determination. Respecting those rights leads to stability. Putin violates those rights. It is true, though, that sometimes western powers cite international law when they really mean their own national interests. But Ukraine goes far beyond that - not that it's the only example, just the example the west has cared about lately.
