    This review was very interesting.

Rush Limbaugh made a connection that got a lot of attention. "The villain in The Dark Knight Rises is named Bane, B-a-n-e," Limbaugh said on his radio show.

"What is the name of the venture capital firm that Romney ran and around which there's now this make-believe controversy? Bain.

    Discussion and background follows.

Before The Dark Knight Rises movie hit theaters, it was already creating controversy and threats, especially online. A negative review had even led to death threats for one critic.

Enthusiastic crowds -- with plenty of wannabe caped crusaders in costume -- lined up for midnight showings and big premieres as far away as London.

But a dark hostility has been gathering around The Dark Knight Rises for days.

When the first negative write-up by a critic popped up on the movie review site Rotten Tomatoes, angry fans responded -- shutting down that critic's website with torrents of abuse, including death threats.

Rotten Tomatoes' boss disabled comments for the first time in his site's history. He posted a statement saying he was considering ending anonymous commenting for good.

The movie's director, Christopher Nolan, said he understands the fans' devotion -- at least the positive parts.

"My job is to be obsessive about the subject and all I've been thinking about for the last two years that we've been making this is Batman. So, I can kind of relate, actually," Nolan said at the London premiere Wednesday.

The movie's villain got blood pumping this week in the political world.

Bain.

"Do you think that it is accidental that the name of the really vicious fire breathing four eyed whatever it is villain in this movie is named Bane?"

Bane was introduced in the comic books in 1993, and was picked to be the bad guy in this movie a year and a half ago.

But another villain is certainly worth mentioning as an icon of rampant, random violence.

In the previous Dark Knight movie, the villain -- the Joker -- made it his life's work to create chaos through senseless violence and turn the world upside down.

Jesus Christ, Rush Limbaugh is a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing idiot. He knows zero about comic books. Bane was/is one of the most popular villains in the series. After the death of Heath Ledger they had to pull the only other iconic bad guy out there that would make sense in the realism of the Christopher Nolan series. You can't make it Poison Ivy...

    Quit politicizing it.

Right now we're waiting for Rushbo to do a *Blood Libel* rant extricating himself from this mass-murder ... like Palin did.

The movie has some interesting references to American politics.

There's a part of the movie where they talk about the 'Dent Act' (after Harvey Dent, aka Two Face). It's completely similar to the Patriot Act. IT'S A MOVIE PLOT PLOY so no, it's no real.

However, Bane is not a reference to Bain. Bane has been a long time batman villain.

Don't watch Fox News, those guys are full of (*)(*)(*)(*).

Yes, limbaugh is certainly a moron in this regard. Bane is just a classic character and fits in very well (perfectly, actually) with the whole terrorist theme that Nolan has established. Two-Face already died in the dark knight, so he's out; as you mentioned, ledger died, so joker is out; Scarecrow is just a little nuisance; and the rest of the villains are too cartoonish (freeze, riddler, penguin, ivy, as you also mentioned) to include in a movie that is supposed to be dark and real to the audience. The only other plausible alternative outside of Bane would be to bring Ra's al Ghul back from the dead (like in the cartoon series) but I'm sure Nolan and the fans would have no interest in bringing back the same villain for the last movie.

They'd have to be tweaked a bit, but I could easily have seen Penguin or Riddler done by Nolan in his version of Batman. In fact, Hugh Laurie or Alan Rickman portraying the Riddler would have been awesome.

The other villains? Yeah, too weird.

Rush is far from an idiot.

But that title may go to you for letting liberals do your thinking for you.

I say that since you obviously did not listen the the Limbaugh comments yourself and are just repeating what you may have heard on CNN or MSNBC.

What he said was that the release date of the movie is suspicious and could have been timed to help the Democrats in November.

That's stupid. Nobody in their right mind would hatch such a ridiculous plot. It wouldn't even work, anyway. Who the hell is going to vote for Obama because the guy is named Bane? I doubt the majority of these moviegoers even know what Bain capital is. And its the middle of summer. What's "suspicious" about releasing a blockbuster movie during the middle of the summer on a Friday?

Mmmmmm, maybe you're right. Neither of them have the edge that Bane has, though. Bane is just perfect for the series finale without ledger.

Stupid is Hollywood weirdo's giving millions of dollars in campaign donations to Obama.

What is so hard to imagine that they would time the release of a film to help Der Black Fuhrer win four more years of free taxpayer funded family vacations?

You summed it up nicely. You are the most reasonable conservative poster on this forum.

I agree with you to a point. Rush is every smart. The problem is that he doesn't even believe what he said with his conspiracy theory. He is playing to the bias of his audience because he knows that is what they want to hear. So even though he knows it is silly he sells it to you anyways.

Who's worse: Limbaugh or his loyal drooling nodding followers-- err, listeners? I think he and his ilk - on both "sides" of the modern political clown act - are all but single-handedly responsible for the polarisation of our politics into this whole Left-Right BS mess. It's these loudmouthed cretins with TV and radio shows who are programming these rabid party supporters. This is what we get with media owned by big corporations, corporate financing of politicians and certain failures on the part of the rest of us - namely a lack of critical thinking skills, as well as historical and civic education. The final ingredient to really whip this poopy storm up seems to be economic woes.

I was about to say the same thing until I saw your post. I think the Riddler especially lends himself well to Nolan's version of Batman.

What Rush said was that the Democrats will try to exploit the Bain character in the Batman movie.

And I think that could work with the sort of low octane Obama voters we saw in 2008 on the Howard Stern video.

    Or these Obama voters:

An interesting point. What is it with Christopher Nolan timing these most recent Batman movies right before the elections?

Gabby Giffords appeared on DailyKos' hit list long before she appeared on SarahPAC's surveyor's crosshair list. Care to explain that one?

I was just more or less signifying that Rushbo & Palin are now bonded forever in specific events and as burned into the minds of Americans ... domestic massacres ...
