    If you read the common and erroneous list of accusations that create the basic myths behind the decline of the city of Detroit, it appears to be a list of commonly held conservative positions that attempt to turn Detroit into an icon of self-validation as well as condemnation of opposing political ideology and the ridiculing or debasement of the base who support it...

    http://www.freep.com/article/20130915/COL33/309150047/Detroit-bankruptcy-Coleman-Young-unions-reasons-truth

    * Black leadership ruined Detroit.

    * White flight doomed the city.

    * High taxes caused Detroit’s demise.

    * Deindustrialization drove the city to bankruptcy.

    * State government caused Detroit’s financial crisis.

    * It’s all Coleman Young’s fault.

    The solution for this, to conservatives, would have been the wonderland panacea of White leadership, Free-Market Anarchy, Low Taxes, and, for some, the removal of minorities.

    The reason I bring this up now is because it is a current problem NO-ONE is talking about. Syria? A major US city just SUNK, 2013, and we are thousands of miles across the ocean drawing lines in the sand. Also, it points to the obvious hypocritcal statement (and obvious nw trend of reverse-psychology or reverse-accusation) that only liberals bring up or obsess over race when, in fact, conservatives bring it up repeatedly. But this is definitely not about race. Or is it.

    Are the claims behind the fall of Detroit valid, or are there more reasonable reasons behind the fall of a major American city and, if you care to project, what does the silence and almost lack of concern about this issue say about America's future?

    ^ My personal opinion on the thread...sadly...there seems to be a definite correlation between race, welfare, compromised leadership, the flight of the white population, and the fall of the city of Detroit.

    I could argue vindicating justifications or possibilities, but at the heart of it, at the moment, the facts seem to validate the claims.

    America should forget those wars in the Middle East and concentrate on improving the urban blight in our own American cities.
