The government should have no say in marriage, aside, of course, of setting the age of consent, and deciding how much a marriedouple would pay in taxes if they decide to file jointly. Other than that, the government has no business in marriage.

I support a new ammendement that would...

1; Abolish the need of marriage licenses to marry

2; Define marriage as a social comntract between two consenting adults. Each state would decide the age at which a person is considered an adult (The age of consent).

3; Legalize polygamy, incest, and bigamy between consenting adults.

4; Strip mormon "Sister-wives", and other polygamist woman, of their status as unwed mothers.....Polygamy would be legally recognized and therefore, they are not unwed....This would save welfare money from programs like WIC, and others that give money to unwed mothers.

5; Make "Criminal Seduction" a crime in every state. For those of you who do not know what this is, it's a law that is passed in some states, such as Indiana, that makes it illegal for a gaurdian to have sex with a person who is under the age of 18...Even if they are over the age of consent in their state. The idea behind this law is that a guardian is atrusted person who can easily make a person consent, against their better judgement. This would include parents, and other immediate family, teachers, and other non-relative temporary guardians.

After the ammendement is passed, secular marriages would be practiced by private sector sources, such as businesses, ship captains, ect....who are licensed by state governments to perform marriages, and by public sector sources, such as judges and justices of the peace. This would be in addition to the religious marriages practices freely by any churches of a recognized religion.

    I am partially with you

I don't like the term "married" to be used by the govt.

we should be "governed" only as individuals and that is how we should be viewed.

Otherwise, it just opens up more slippery slopes for every special interest to want their group to be "included"

There is no slipperly slope.....Anyone moron who claims that child molesters would be allowed to marry children or people could marry taosters or horses is too stupid too understand that children are not legaly allowed to consent, so could not marry, and that animals and inanimate objects do not have the mental capacity to understand and consent to marriage and therefore could not be married.

What surprises me is how many people actually believe that same sex marriage will lead to legalized pedophilia.

As if they can't tell the difference between to consenting adults having sex and an adult raping a child.
