This is what many old people have to retire to: These people didn't or were not able to save enough for retirement. It's practically a form of homelessness, but at least they have a roof over their heads. Eight people sleeping in a small narrow room, only one hot meal provided per day. The standard of living in Russia is lower than it is in America or Western Europe.

Compared to harsh winter conditions in Russia, living in San Diego is like a paradise for homeless people.
