The distortion is the entire social construction of violence- whether the power comes from the end of a gun or via the courts. Race is a detail of the tropes of conflicting power- used to designate the affiliation of the two armed camps.

The whites-as-victims stories get lots of play on FOX and AM hate radio. There is not much focus on non whites when they are the positive forces. These details are in focus only when it serves the meme of "invalid claims by non whites."

Instead of focusing on "black on white" crime stories- why not stories of black on white love? In Georgia, Amanda Tuff saw a hurting white boy with a gun and extended motherly empathy. In Ohio last May, brown and black neighbors of lily white Amanda Berry heard her criies for help and came running to break down the door behind which she had been imprisoned for 10 years.

Does Fox want to focus on the collectivist aspects of non whites in the community coming to help a white?

Of course not. The story for them was about how white girls were enslaved by a hispanic man or how the non white community rallied to the white girl to save her? And how does the Fox Bubbleverse treat the rescuers- one of who was a black man named Charles Ramsey? The stories they run are dominated by suggestions he lied about his role as a rescuer. That trope of illegitimate claims by a non white reinforces the message that confirms the feeling of fox viewers that they are victims of non white fraud and violence. So who is the alternate person that Fox proposes as the Real rescuer?

Not too much emphasis about that. Why? He is a dark skinned hispanic named Angel Codero who only speaks Spanish.

So how did Fox dance around that one? They didn't care. The goal was to kill the image of Charles Ramsey the Black hero. As Keith Boykin observed, Charles Ramsey said something you almost never hear on Television when he was asked about how he was sizing up the situation:

"Bro, I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into a Black man's arms," he said. "Dead giveaway." The seemingly uncomfortable white reporter then cut him off and ended the interview.

Is it any better that a pretty white girl ran into the arms of a dark Spanish speaking hispanic man's arms? No- because that does not play well to viewers of fox for whom the spanish speaking community is dominated by "illegals". They like their Reagan Reality super crisp with clear white hats and black hats.

From Amanda Berry's account, both Ramsey and Cordero were present and helped save her, according to a Cleveland detective's court testimony (source). Instead Fox looked for a way out. If non whites are saving whites, the suspicion must be established there must be something that is not respectable about them. If no delegitimizing scandal can be found, the response is to simply ignore the black on white love story so that their deconstructive message cannot threaten the pillars of the angry white male right wing Bubbleverse of victimhood.

They don't want messages of empathy or stories of how nonwhites act selflessly to help right wrongs done to whites.

Because those messages don't sell guns, Fox airtime or messages from Right wing politicians or lawyers. It just doesn't fit into their zero sum construction of power.
