It seems true that if a new world war develops in the near future, the damage to the world's major economies will be severe, and therefore, medical research will slow down. Since we are already behind the development of drug resistance in disease organisms, and in developing adequate vaccines and treatments for new emerging diseases, it is highly probable that with a new world war which would cause medical research to slow down, we would see a die-off of from 50% to 99% of the world's population from an accumulation of diseases which can't be prevented nor treated.
