    Ok, maybe not official.

I just recently got this game after my nephew convinced me that it's the greatest game ever made and I should get it. I was feeling a bit bored so I bought it and he's right, it's awesome.

Whoever thought mining blocks and building things could be so much fun?

    Anyone play?

I've been thinking about getting it for the PC that's why. I'll let you know if I get it.

The Xbox version is very limited compared to the PC version.

Every now and then when I visit my friend(soon to be room mate)we end up playing it. It's weird though, all I do is dig. I don't build. I don't craft. I dig. That's it. And somehow I manage to enjoy it.

I remember the first time we played we ended up building a base of operations deep inside this mine I had dug. I ended up next to several spawners and panicked. So I started throwing down blocks to put up a barrier. I ended up tunneling a room while my friend made his way to me. He didn't even bother fighting, he just helped me secure the new room.

Pretty soon he had set up some beds, crafting tables, planted some wheat and a giant tree. I don't remember the purpose of the tree but he planted it.

The really cool part was I had basically dug this room out practically underneath his house so we just set up a ladder that went all the way up to the floor of his place. Something I'm sure most people would be miffed about in real life.

That's what you're supposed to do with spawners. You set it up so water drags them to a gap and then they go up the tower and then get bumped by the next zombie, skeleton, whatever, and fall almost to their death and down the bottom you're waiting to give em a good whack with a sword.

I haven't yet found a skeleton spawner which is a bit disappointing because they're the most useful monster mob to farm because they drop bones which you can turn into bonemeal and grow trees and (*)(*)(*)(*) with.

'tis my home. As you can see I've got a pretty long railcart line going off into the distance. Saves walking time to my Zombie Farm. All the spawners near my home turned out to be spiders and they're no good.

I've never seen an uglier looking game than Minecraft - I've seen free-to-play browser based games that looked better than that

If it was a DOS game from the early 90s or something they'd have an excuse, but it just looks god-awful even by early 2000 standards - no thanks

    Then play Atari 2600

I don't either - that doesn't mean I'm going to play a game that looks like the 'graphics' were drawn in Microsoft paint.

Not to mention the gameplay looks bad too from what little I've seen of it - unless you actually have the time and energy to build gigantic castles brick by brick (and 99% of the people playing it don't).

Atari had no gameplay. It was just a novelty.

Graphics don't have to be 'state of the art' for a game to be good - but when you're paying for an actual hard copy game, and the graphics are poorer than some browser-based free to play games - I want to know what the reason for that is.

What mode do you play? I play Survival for the most part. I only go into Creative to test out things.

Is there anything you don't have a negative opinion of? :)

Minecraft is much deeper than basic browser games and the graphics aren't bad, they're intentionally stylised (I bet you think Picasso was an awful painter too).

Mostly creative. I have a particular OCD that I can't have interrupted by zombies and the like.

On the Xbox version the world is 864x864 blocks in size. In the PC version it's technical infinite even though there's a place nicknamed the Far Lands where the blocks are no longer able to be broken but that's 32 MILLION blocks away from where you spawn.

Wow, we like a lot of the same games.

If I could suggest it, you should check out the Feed the Beast mod pack, it comes with tons of mods already installed, lots of machines and magic and it's easy. I got really bored with Vanilla and FTB completely revived my interest in the game.
