The Progressive Mindset Is Evil

I try not to spend a lot of time focused on the enemies of America, but they are plentiful, and a growing percentage of them reside within the United States. Hell, a lot of them are in Congress, the courts, or the White House. But most of them live in academia, many times in between stints in government. They are actively working to make this country worse.

The progressive mindset is one of, quite honestly, evil. Think of all the progress our species has made throughout all of human history, and we're watching these people do their damnedest to destroy it.

Nothing exemplifies this more than the modern left and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. King lays out, in terms so basic even Joe Biden can understand them, his desire for the country to get past the color of a person's skin.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" is one of the most influential lines ever spoken.

The left is voiding their bowels all over it on a daily basis….

It is not that a progressive individual is evil. Neither the op Ed writer nor I believe that. It’s just that their ideas lead to a negative or evil result for America and the American people all too often. These ideas in academia, government, and regarding economics are horrific in the damage that they lead to all too often. Derek Hunter is right on here.

 

The bicoastal secular progressive urban elites are a clear and present danger and threat to traditional American values and culture. Also to our true 1776 exceptional America history and progress toward a more perfect Union.

 

The OP is a clear example why we must never allow a traitorous dipshit such as Trump in the WH ever again. His rhetoric has encouraged Americans to call other Americans "enemies & evil."

Please. The left calls other Americans who are conservative and Trump supporters all sorts of those kind of things. The difference is that we think progressive ideas are bad, they think and say that conservatives are bad people.

 

Yes we know, women voting, civil rights, social security, voting rights act, medicare, all considered by cons to be bad ideas.

 

It's true. Very evil.

 

One thing conservatives excel at is being on the wrong side of history.

 

It's become even worse as their Republican party is becoming history and a thing of the past.

 

All of those had broad bipartisan consensus. The issue with social security and Medicare has always been keeping them solvent and functional. It was conservatives who added prescription RX and Medicare Advantage to Medicare and made medical insurance more affordable with high deductible catastrophic coverage and health savings accounts for out of pocket expenses.

 

I think Conservatives are actually focusing on Open Borders, defunding the police, allowing men into women's spaces, teaching sex and CRT in schools, DAs who release dangerous criminals and refuse to prosecute them, things like that.

 

You have a very distorted view of conservatives. You ought to get out in public more.

 

Don't panic. In a more inclusive America there is still plenty of room for Apple pie, Christmas and Cheerleading.

Except for the fact, one of conservative base principles is preservation of the status quo.

 

Not all of the status quo, just the parts that have proven valuable over time. Don't depend on dictionary definitions to understand political and cultures groups today.

 

The left has taken the “progress” part out of “progressive”
Now they want kids segregated by race in schools and all of this other backwards stuff
I liked them much better when they actually earned the name “progressive” with unique and innovative ideas

 

Not to mention Dems and libs. You know the ones who closed their eyes when blm and antifa burned city’s, vandalized Walmarts, targets and mom and pop stores, killed people………..and they didn’t seem to care enough to stand up, speak up and put an end to it. This includes the assclown in the White House and the idiots in the legislature as well as govs and mayors with D after their names.

German and US Conservatives have Little In Common

While across the US the German election has been depicted in the mainstream media as a defeat for the ruling Conservative (Christian Democrat) Party, the reality of conservatism in Germany — and most of Europe — is that it bears little resemblance to what it means to Americans.

Retiring Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has been in office for the last sixteen years. While Conservatives in the US equate public provision of healthcare as ‘socialism’, in Germany, and most other western democracies for that matter, mainstream conservative parties — like their left wing opponents — see healthcare as the right of every citizen. The supreme irony is that it costs each taxpayer a good deal less than what Americans shell out for so little in return. Germany has actually enjoyed a social health care system for 138 years.

Conservative Americans might also imagine that Germany’s ‘Conservative’ Chistian Democrats would be pro capital punishment. To the contrary, a West Germany Conservative government dropped the death penalty in 1949, after the collapse of the Third Reich. In East Germany, the death penalty was tossed out after the fall of communism in 1989

Germany, incidentally, has an incarceration rate that is less than a tenth of that in the US, and boasts a far more humane system, oriented more towards rehabilitation than punishment. The jails are run entirely by the state in Germany, where private for-profit prisons are widely seen as an abhorrent idea.

Conservative Americans might also assume that their German political namesakes are against gay marriage. To the contrary, a poll shows that 73 percent of Conservative voters are for it, and it has been legalised. Indeed, only the extremely authoritarian nationalist party, Alternative für Deutschland, opposes same-sex marriage.

Then what about abortion? It’s available in ‘Conservative’ Germany during the first three months of pregnancy. Then surely Germany’s ‘Conservative’ chancellor has opposed immigration? To the contrary, she welcomed well over a million Muslim refugees in a single year.

Right across the board — minimum wage, trade union rights, generous sick pay, at least 5 weeks paid holiday, free childcare and so on — Germany’s Conservatives have little in common with those of the US. Indeed Angela Merkel has been generally well to the left of Elizabeth Warren and the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

Now Germany has a centre-left government — a coalition of Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals. As with most of Europe, the German political landscape runs from the real far left to the actual far right. Smaller parties have a reasonable chance of a voice in the Bundestag, since hte country’s finely-tuned system of proportional representation means a threshold of just 5 percent of the vote.

After 16 years of Conservative-led government, the top basic tax rate in Germany stands at 45 percent — an unconscionable figure for most US conservatives. But it’s still a far cry from the 91 percent top earners’ bracket reached during the presidency of Dwight Eisenhower. That was a time before liberal Republicans became an extinct species; when conservatives in the US and Germany would have sat more closely together on The Political Compass.

There certainly seems to be an anti-individual dignity & rights, collectivism mindset.

deontological versus ontological ethics (morality versus "the means justify the ends" total utilitarianism)

(I've actually had two different members in this forum tell me "There is no such thing as morality", and they were being entirely sincere in their belief)

positive rights versus negative rights (the right to have something versus the right not to have something done to you)

And the "I'll do it" versus "The government will do it" mentality

Someone in the Religion & Philosophy section even made the astute observation that, for many of them "government is their god". And that actually seems to be almost literally true, in many cases, even though so many conservatives just can't even see it because that sort of mentality is so foreign and unimaginable to them.
