The US has long trumpeted itself as the only paragon of virtue and ‘defender of freedom’ in the world, going into overdrive with this message in the years following the Cold War. Millions of people were duped during this time, but their illusions were quickly dispelled after the 1999 War on Yugoslavia.
This tragedy exposed the true face of American ‘diplomacy’ as a duplicitous front for pursuing predetermined geopolitical ends. The war wasn’t so much about a ‘humanitarian intervention’ (the reality surrounding which was grossly exaggerated by the Western media) as it was the establishment of a pro-Western proxy state in the heart of the Southern Balkans.

One of the most landmark and bloodshed "liberating operations" of the USA of this century almost in the centre of Europe. Have EU forgotten about this, at least some of it's members. And now NATO(US) troops occupied Europe freely. Will ukraine have Yugoslavia destiny or even harder? 48039_709512962426800_1905490727_n.jpg

Nothing like being a shill for Russia.

I notice you claim to hail from Lion France. I'd might actually believe that if you knew how to spell it properly.

Jonsa, people who oppose US foreign policy aren't, as a consequence, automatically pro Russian. It's a ludicrous proposition.

Once in your Republic, and not so long ago either, criticism of the government was regarded as an honourable pursuit. Heck, your Constitution was founded on the basis of the people distrusting government, because the founders had lived through a long British occupation.

So many Americans now seem to enjoy living in a new dark age.

God thank you, someone who is smart enough to realise. America goes around acting like they are the world's police system, keeping everyone in line cuz somehow they are superior to the rest of the world, but they end up
f*&^ing up every place they try to "help".

I tend to agree with this.. America is not the 'world policeman', & should immediately stop trying to do it.

    1. We cannot afford it. That is enough. The american worker cannot afford to be saddled with policing the entire world. We can defend our own turf, but we cannot afford to defend every nation in the world from all the tyrant wannabes.
    2. It is unconstitutional. There is no constitutional mandate for the US to be the world policeman.
    3. It is unbecoming a free people. To oppress, manipulate, prop up tyrants, & meddle in the national affairs of another sovereign nations is completely contrary to what America is about. These crooks & scoundrels who use American resources for their own dreams of military glory should be tarred & feathered.
    4. It sends the wrong message about what America is about. We are a free nation, & a people of law. Lawless acts of aggression & bullying only enforce the 'ugly American' image.

That said, there are a lot of America bashers who forget that our money & lives have secured many nations' freedoms in the last century. That should not justify continued meddling, but this is primarily a debate for American policy.. terrorists & self interests of others should not be factors in our decisions on policy. We can make treaties, & *help* our allies, but not like we do it currently. We do ALL the work, cover ALL the costs, & are vilified for it.

IMO, it is time to return to a Roosevelt foreign policy. 'Speak softly, & carry a big stick.'

Yeah...I agree, we should simply butt out of everyone else's business and sit back while they screw it up themselves. Then when they ask for help or money we can relax in our lounge chair drinking umbrella cocktails, rebuild our roads and take care of our own people.

    Screw everyone else.

Japan, South Korea, most of Africa, and many more....thing is, it seems you are hinting that if they screw themselves up but we tried to help them....the screw up is all on us. As I said...we should stay away and never get blamed when they implode.

And not mine. What is ludicrous is your assumptive condescension.

I expressed my opinion on the strength of the pattern of posts from the OP and the fact he can't even spell his own city name correctly.

I am not American, I am Canadian.
I guess you haven't been "enjoying" the fruits of American media coverage and especially the often vicious criticisms (regardless of accuracy) of the government that occur DAILY.

Not nearly as many as live in Russia (for example).

Seems anyone blessed with a sense of right and wrong, and who is able to present factual occurrences rather than 'fantasies' of ones own makings, is accused of being shills. Is it projection...or an intent to quiet others from revealing the truth? Isn't that a form of brain washing?

Tecoyah, do you realize there was a time when people in Libya enjoyed a comfortable existence, with a ruler who was relatively tolerant, but we destroyed it. They are suffering today and it's because of us. In Syria they had it so well, that I knew people who were praising Assad and were moving back to Syria because of their quality of life, and we destroyed it. Today they're living like animals in refugee camps, being thrown about from one place to another. What if something like that was done to the US, would you like it?

The Syrians are fighting in Assad's army because they know the alternative. If the foreign terrorists win, and it doesn't matter if it's ISIS or the ones we train and support and pretend their 'moderates', the Syrian people will either be massacred or will be forced to live under Sharia law. Do you think this is right?

I think it would be a good idea to see who is really in control Washington, because they are supposed to represent us, yet I'm not evil, but they are.

As Bush the Inept once put it, You're either with us or you're with the terrorists. That's the unfortunate direction America has been moving in for a while now, is into a two-camp mentality with no room for a middle ground. It's apparent everywhere you look: You're Left or Right (Dem or Rep), for America or against America (love or hate this country), Christian or not Christian, White or not White, etc. We are descending into extremism and madness, I feel.

I recall the propaganda blitz on CNN against the Serbs and their supposed 'genocide' of Albanians, (which turned out not to be true), and the illegal bombing of Belgrade for seventy eight days. Can you imagine Chicago or Los Angeles being bombed for seventy eight days for no reason? Thousands were killed.

I assumed once Clinton was out, we would become a decent nation again...but boy was I wrong. He messed up this country for good, and in just about every way, and it continues and continues and continues whether it's in our foreign policy with the neo cons, or the liberal social agendas... or the GMOs. He made Pres. Bush a liar and moved Nato closer to Russia's border. It was this and the illegal destruction of Serbia that awakened Putin, and he started Russia's rearmament program.

Unfortunately the laws passed under the Clinton administration put our press into the hands of six corporations, and their agenda matches that of the Washington lobbyists. We are stuck now big time. The people are totally controlled. There is no way anyone can change the system, and because of it we are the most hated nation in the world...and with good reason.
    [IMG]Thank You President Clinton.

Jeannette .. you don't know squat about Libya... and there was no way the US or any other country could have stopped the civil war against Ghadaffi.

The programs for education etc were all developed by Idris not Ghadaffi.. All Ghadaffi did was throw out the Libyan Constitution, kill their oil production and isolate Libya.

If the Syrian people wanted Assad.... there wouldn't have been any civil uprisings.

Libya became an independent kingdom in 1951 under King Idris who had been the mayor of Tripoli for decades. In 1969, a military coup overthrew King Idris I who had begun a period of improved living standards.

Ghadaffi introduces a period of brutal suppression of dissent.

Within a year, the 20,000 remaining Italians and 37,000 Jews had been expelled.

The most prominent coup conspirator, Muammar Gaddafi, was ultimately able to fully concentrate power in his own hands during the Libyan Cultural Revolution.

Oh so you're saying that it was okay to bomb them, and they're living better now because of us?

Oh, so Assad wasn't voted in with a large majority, and the jihadists aren't foreign terrorists?

Tell you what Margo, you're right! I say we bomb Saudi Arabia next. I read the Shias are miserable there. A few mosques and oil wells going up in flames should teach them a thing or two...what say?

And in Egypt all the Greeks, Jews, Italians, French, English, and what nots were also expelled under Nassar, so what? What does that have to do with bombing Libya and destroying people's lives? Russia had relations with Ghadaffi and Nato lied to them and said they wouldn't bomb and they did. They also said that nothing would happen to Ghadaffy and he was killed.

Medvedev who was president of Russia at the time, was foolish enough to believe them...and it's a mistake he dearly regrets now.

Not disagreeing, but might I ask you to cite something in support of these assertions: Nato lied to them and said they wouldn't bomb and they did. They also said that nothing would happen to Ghadaffy and he was killed.

    Danke.

I pick up bits and pieces here and there, and then connect them. There are certain things I didn't know, so I might have taken things out of context. It seems there was friction over Libya between Medvedev who was President, and Putin. In a documentary, Medvedev was accused of treason for allowing Gadhaffi to be removed. Had Putin been president, he would have vetoed the bill because there were too many questions concerning it. I believe Medvedev was told that Ghadaffi would not be killed.

If you read the analysis I have linked below, it shows that much of what Ghadaffi was being accused of was falsified. Also USAID and other regime changing NGOs were active in Libya since 2005. In the Security Council resolution it states acts against the Libyan authorities towards journalists, and associated personnel, and yet Nato forces deliberately killed three journalists...and they admitted it. Reminds me of the bombing of Belgrade, where they deliberately hit a TV station killing people inside. So much for Charlie Hebdo and freedom of the press.

“Further condemning acts of violence and intimidation committed by the Libyan authorities against journalists, media professionals and associated personnel and urging these authorities to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law as outlined in resolution 1738 (2006),

Security Council Approves ‘No-Fly Zone’ over Libya, Authorizing ‘All Necessary Measures’ to Protect Civilians, by Vote of 10 in Favour with 5 Abstentions

Stop it? They organized it. NATO is expanding into Africa and needs Libya to become part of their plans in that Continent. Not-with-standing that is Libya's vast oil and has wealth and massive financial reserves.

See (and ignore) the background HERE, HERE and HERE

I cannot agree more with the foreign aid policy that you have stated. We should pull all of our resources back to our borders, shut off all foreign aid, secure out borders, run all the illegals out, and start kicking all the expired green cards back across what ever water they crossed to get here. Every last damned one of them.
They whine about our policies, then whine about our help. Fine. Let's pull every damned dime back, shut down our bases over seas, and station our Navy off the coasts on both sides of the nation and tell the rest of the world to kiss off.
    Then they'll (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about how we're not helping them.............dumbasses........

    >>>>>EXCERPT FROM EDDIE DEANS REPLY>>>>>>
    <<<<<<<<<EXCERPT<<<<<<<

I once believed in the tooth fairy and Santa clause too. I grew out of it by the time I was 40. (lol?). Here is the deal, by that I mean most Americans fall into three categories. Those are; (1) The naive with a good heart, like my mom, RIP ; They feel the USA in general and the police, FBI, etc are all do no wrong protectors of those that can not protect themselves. They also believe that the moral character of elected officials etc is almost as good as Jesus incarnate, but not quite.

Ok...#2.....(don't forget this a super general opinion)....[the OT mentioned Diplomacy... It's almost always a means to spy on other nations and often to bide time or gain military or other advantage. :salute:The USA always has one or more an ulterior motives for any good thing they do....like; The interstate system, military to move military goods quickly. NASAs rocket launches...all or most military missions with a domestic cover story.....Home(Father)land security, NSA Army...not fully to protect the citizens, at best constructed and existing to control or to spy on the citizens even if we don't need control ! You get the picture(s)? If they say I am from the government and here to help you we know the are lying about at least one thing and its not where they are from! The police are ok if you are or look 80 years old and are white.

To protect and serve written on their Patrol car is a stab, or shot (pun int.) at comedy. We that means anyone over 16 and under 50 NEVER call the cops because they cause more trouble than they fix. We also believe all the CIAs the NSA and other spooks hate us as much as the terrorists, if there are really any terrorists over here. Those guys aren't stupid they probably get sent to the USA for some kind of punishment that should had been a firing squad, but they didnt want to waste ammo on them. The only thing is that the USA is still when compared to the other cesspools of nations the USA (again) is better to any nation on earth :heart:when everything is considered. I freaking LOVE my country, but despise many of our leaders. I would die for my country for you and yours if the cause was real national self defense. The problem is we sometimes dont know ~

Ok the last category are those that want to move to Marx land and fully despise everything about the USA.

Personally I am a fraction of version one and am all in category two. Those that are in category three should ask for a ticket to anywhere else and do it post haste, you are breathing my air, but may god bless you anyway . while you are on your way to North Korea etc :flame:

It might be a good idea for you to remember what actually led up to both the Syria mess and Libya...as I recall it was the people of both countries that instigated and rebelled against their own leaders and we then stepped in to assist, mind you we should have never done so. As I have indicated the United States should not get involved in ANYTHING in the Middle East as the people do not want our help unless it is money and guns...there is no win for us, period.
