It is very easy to research and find someone who died in a way that will match a birthmark. VERY EASY.
You are not following very well since my comment was not a response to a comment you made to me. It was a comment you made to someone else.
who the comment was made to has no bearing on whether it has to do with the fact that atheism is a religion.
Discussing scientific evidence for reincarnation, a belief of several religions, is relevant to the discussion in this thread because when something can be proven it is science not a religion.
Athiesm has not been established as a religion except in your opinion. If I understand your arguement it takes faith to believe in lack of a deity because it is impossible to prove that no deity exists. And since it is equally impossible to prove a deity exists then religion requires faith. Therefore theism and athiesm are logically equal.
It takes just as much faith to believe there are no unicorns. This whole argument is a play on words.
People can be uncertain regarding certain elements of a religious belief and still be a theist. I fixed it for you.
The statement could be true either way. But in this case even if reincarnation was a proven fact, a belief in reincarnation would not require a belief in a deity.
They are trying to cherry pick then force the most extreme narrow interpretation possible in an attempt to claim an exemption.
religion requires faith in your value determinations and matters of conscience so it applies to everyone that is not in a coma or dead.
Atheism technically is not a religion. Technically it repudiates religion. But what is religion? Religion IMO is a formal way of explaining where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going. Atheists need to contend with these questions just like anyone else - they just don't invoke a deity.
Of interest too is that both the avowedly religious and devoted atheist MUST invoke the miracle to explain our presence. Science is all about the causes to effects - but this can't explain the first effect. Essentially, whether God created the universe, or it created itself - that's the miracle.
Atheists don't need to contend with those questions. Some may, but that is not what makes them an atheist.
If so then then that person has never challenged themself and thought too deeply about the issues of life.
