Am I the only Conservative upset with the silly yet set in concrete primary process in the Republican party. We begin with a tiny, atypical state, Iowa, where the republican base is as representative of the conservative base across the country as Obama is to Reagan. Then we rush into another tiny state (My county probably has more republicans). They vote more often than not for the secular, establishment, quasi RINO candidate and then we wander to SC where we finally get to a republican base big enough to matter and conservative enough to be seen as main stream by the party base. Why not do a lottery and draw states order of battle? Imagine if we began in Texas or Colorado for a change. I believe we would end up with a candidate the party base would recognize as a main stream republican. Tiny states with tiny numbers of Republicans would not determine the result as they do now!
For both parties, the primaries should be held in a rotated order every election cycle. This would prevent states from perpetually having an undue amount of influence in primaries. In short, I like your idea.
Well, the dems have the same primary process, beginning in the same states. I do agree it's silly. I think we should switch up early primary vs. late primary states. It's silly that Iowa and New Hampshire have as much influence as they do. I think either a lottery or a rotation would be a good thing.
