Going to post a couple of opinions in one thread for both sides, while trying to condense it for you TL;DR folks.

Liberals: Lose your outrage and call it what it was. A concentrated "gotcha" moment.

To take my point from another thread: Chris Matthews was never interested in a legitimate answer. He specifically asked "if it were illegal", which (to logical people) means it MUST return some sort of penalty. What kind of offense doesn't attach one? Here's the reality... the line of questioning (and the obvious hostile posture in which they were asked) was meant to make an ardent pro-lifer confront the reality of why they want it illegal... to punish those that seek it, health-wise & punitively. It's not as if it's legal status will prevent the act. Chris just wanted viewers to see someone who wants to create an environment where women are using dangerous/life-threatening channels to abort, and receive punishment if caught. In that light, he succeeded.

Call it what it is... a gotcha moment that was seemingly effortless in execution. Chris Matthews was hoping to make Trump appear unsettling to women. That's not journalism... it's activism.

Trump fans: He (*)(*)(*)(*)ing blew it. Own it.

He had an opportunity to completely shut down that bull(*)(*)(*)(*) line of questioning with logic. Not some fancy politician tricks. Not years of learning verbal judo. Just logic... or that "common sense attitude" that most of you like about him. Had anyone other than an idiot been asked that question, we might have received something like:

"Well, if I have to answer the question in a theoretical world of it's illegality, then our legal system would fail if we didn't attach punishment. That's like asking me if I think someone should be punished for illegally using prescription medication or illegal drugs. It's a no-brainer/common sense question.. but loaded nonetheless."

Instead, the front runner for the Republican Party was out-witted by a known MSNBC liberal crusader, and somehow people expect him to fair well in front of other world leaders.

    Simply amazing.
