I've seen a lot of folks of a particular extremist view on this board try to claim that the Capitol riot wasn't that big of a deal, or that only a few dozen rioters actually did anything, or that the lawmakers and Pence weren't really in danger. For them in particular, but for everyone else as well, I urge folks to listen to the latest episode of Radiolab here: https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/radiolab/articles/post-reports-four-hours-insurrection They have audio from the riot and interviews with people who were there, including capitol police and security. I think everyone should listen to officers describe being tased, hearing the mob talk about killing them, being beaten with poles that have blue-line American flags attached to them, and ultimately trying to appeal to their humanity to get them to stop. This is what the conspiracy and fraud nonsense has done. It's truly sobering to hear these accounts.
I agree. When I first saw the still images from the riot, I thought, "Hey, hate to see this ...". Then I watched some of the actual video WITH sound and suddenly it was, "Holy ****, this was much more intense and dangerous than I originally thought."
Unfortunately, the people that need to REALLY hear this won't care. They are only interested in minimizing it and pretending that "nothing" happened. It reminds me of the anti-maskers completely ignoring the sheer numbers of people dying daily. Thanks for posting this.
