This one always makes me laugh, especially on this board. Its absolutely insane that extremists like Perry, Palin, and Bachmann can advocate corporate handouts under the guise of "free market". The "free market" as it is in modern day America is nothing but a manipulated market by the top 1%. And of course our government both parties (republicans alot more) are bought and paid for by big business.

But thats not the thing thats really crazy, whats really crazy is average working people buy into the notion that a total free market would be always be beneficial to everyone. We see how business "regulates" itself. Just look at the BP spill. All causes by cutting corners on safety measures simply because it would eat into their precious "profits". The free market as it is today is way to corrupt and is aimed to make big business more money for themselves, no matter the means.

So yes I laugh when people rattle on about "free market" solutions. How the "free market" should decide worker pay,who gets HC and who doesn't, and even to some a "free market" FDA (which is absolute madness to suggest.)

Until America moves away from obscene amounts of corporate welfare and extreme corporate corruption things will only get worse.

Exactly. The free market is as free as vested interests will let it be.

Which, with political help, is in slavery to the vested interests.

I don't think they all think that. Most working class people don't, I'm pretty sure. They're better educated on these things than they get credit for.

Only people that have FAILED miserably in the free market and do not understand it or totalitarian COMMUNISTS complain about it.
The United States is one of many countries with a "mixed market",with some form of regulations. But the Commies here would love to see total government control of everything from healthcare to what we should buy and not buy.I call that (*)(*)(*)(*) tyranny.
Seriously get of here with that Marxist crap already, its getting very stale

Did I ever say I want total government control over everything? Do you people even know what communism is? Or are you just repeating what Rush says again? I would like you to point out where I ever said I want communism. Point out where I said I want all private ownership taken away. Point out where I said the government should own everything. Your kind is so ignorant to any sort of real facts its sickening.

You are totaly correct. When I see people who support this kind of Free Market Propaganda, I know the USA is going on a fast decline, because these obedient propaganda consumers will bring down the USA.

As you have stated, those corporations are capitalizing on everyone at free will. I would like to add, that in the past these greedy capitalist would ripp off the consumers, capitalize on their paychecks, and manipulate them on giving up more of thier money. As a result, they have caused small buisness higher taxes, more debt, more health insurance costs, and have tapped out the manufacturing and services to levels so high, the price for any product or service in the USA is not competitive with the rest of the world.

Because these "Free Market-eers" have tapped out capitalization in the USA there is no other place to take money form other than directly from the government and the Taxpayers. Hence, we see the free market deregulating housing and bank mortgages, real estate, and investment banks, And creating more and more debt so that banks can profit off. School districts and States are so far in debt, they don't talk about it, and investors and invesment corporation banks are making a killing off the interest. Corporations are now targeting the tax money off the government. It's all free market, and no one to regulate them.

Until economic leftists actually learn what a "free market" is and how it would benefit society, their anti-market rants will continue looking stupid and ignorant...

Things will change. Only the naive believe that they won't. Those who manipulate and take advantage of decent, hard working human beings... are only making their own beds harder to lay in.

Whether people understand the more intricate aspects of the "free-market" or not... they WILL nevertheless PUSH for what ultimately makes their lives better.

I'm sure they will. Most likely, this country will collapse under the immense weight of its corrupt government.

    Okay.

Couldn't agree more. Irrationality and selfishness are the two defining characteristics of any mob.

In any case... it doesn't make sense for you or others to sit back and pretend that "capitalism" (which is good when it is regulated properly) hasn't contributed significantly to the problems we all see.

We're all human. Take that for what it is worth.

Regulated "capitalism" IS the problem. Of course, this goes back to my original point about economic leftists failing to understand the nature of capitalism and free markets, which is why they conflate them with the statist system currently in practice.

And some humans are smarter than others.
