Borrowing a page from George W. Bush's book, again. Barrack Obama, the man who ten days ago played down the disaster that is the roll out of his signature reform legislation and called in the storm troops. Nerd shock troops to engage in the "War on Obamacare" and rebuild the software everyone has been insisting is 'just fine, maybe a few bugs'. When things were bad and "Mission Accomplished" was the laughing stock of the world, Bush called in a surge and, according to reports of the mainstream media of the day, pushed back the bad guys in Bagdad. Obama did it when he needed a lift and after all the allies abandoned him in Afghanistan... So now, the with ACA roll out in tatters despite his best PR efforts insisting it's working, he's called for help...from the pocket protector squad.. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/obamacare-website-fixes-hhs-98569.html?hp=f1 And to make sure we know that this is Really, Really important to him, the president is making this announcement in a big PR campaign in the Rose Garden tomorrow, which should cinch the fact this is NOT a simple photo op to stall for time and make it look like they know what they're doing. But, this "surge" like the others, raises questions similar to the criticisms over Bush's surge, questions the Mainstream media don't seem to be asking in this situation, so here goes a few: How is it now, 17 or 18 days in, that we are calling in reinforcements? And what happened to the line from Obama land that this whole roll out is just hunky dory and fine, that they've had almost 500,000 looky loos and that means it's utopian standard perfect? How come this army wasn't called on at the beginning. Why are they calling on them now, after the fact? What what about the $600 million cost on this turkey, is that a waste of money? Three, who is going to get rich off this mess? The program cost $600 million out of the gate. How many more millions will be spent making Obama's buddies rich before they get it right? And where is Ms. Sebilius in all this? Look for her under a bus when the smoke clears
"Hello, Geek Squad? Yeah, Barry here - look, you got a few minutes to help me out with some tech support? Good, my address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Thanks."
Maybe having a nerd sort things out is not what we need. In fact, Obama ordered his dorky son try to run his health-care program. Obamacare crashed! "Did I do that?"
Well, to be fair, the government didn't have the funds for this until the debt ceiling was lifted, (October 18th) so that's all of 3 days ago, which was a Friday. And, Saturday - Sunday were weekends.
Billions to the Silicon Valley 1%ers. It would be much less wasteful of taxpayer dollars to scrap the whole thing and start over.
So now all the conservatives are expecting that a really large and very new computer system should run fine right out of the gate. It's strange, how most of you guys seem unfamiliar with just about every version of Windows and every Apple product ever made, are you all on Linux with every device you possess and have been forever? To be honest, I thought this thread was going to be about the Republican's last ditch attempt to raise an Army of hackers to sabotage Obamacare but seeing as that's probably what's happening now I'd guess they'd want to keep that quiet. It really makes you wonder. If Obama's plan is really as bad as they say then just why have the Republicans been so against Obamacare ever starting? Wouldn't that give it a chance to show its true horrors? Could it be they fear that once the people get to know and enjoy Universal Healthcare's benefits they'll wonder why they didn't have it sooner, and then finally begin to get rid of the people responsible for keeping it from them for so long? Nah, couldn't be. After all, the Republicans let the worst terrorist attack in history be pulled off right under their noses, then brought back the Great Depression, and their reward was to have the American people elect the most intransigent cadre of obstructionists that have ever disgraced Congress, all because the President couldn't repair the entirety of the damage it took them a decade to make in 22 months. "No one has ever gone broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public". That should become the Republican slogan.
I think that conservatives figured that if the President of the United States of America were going to spend about half a billion dollars on a relatively simple software program then he would also have ordered his technicians to run isolated tests to work out the bugs BEFORE inviting the entire nation to participate. I mean he did have a great deal of time to get ready for opening day. Gosh, it's almost as if all those conservative critics of this president and of his Obamacare law . . . were correct after all.
Who were the people who set up the online system in the first place, and which bureaucrats oversaw them? It's amazing how easily responsibility can be dodged in the Federal public service.
