I have to say, it happens to a very deserving bunch. The question is, what should they do, criticize Trump for the handling of classified documents, and risk losing the MAGA vote, or, once again, kiss the ring and come to the defense of the MAGA leader? I don't envy them. It must be hard to try to fit this square peg through a round hole, especially while trying to portray a law and order position, when at the same time attacking the FBI, the DOJ and, possibly, judges and jurors involved in the case. But, then, they are politicians, who have made a living out of evading tough questions. Now, DeSantis seems to be smart and is mostly silent on the matter. But, just like he could not avoid confronting Trump forever, he will not be able to avoid being asked where he stands on the matter of the Trump indictment. One thing is for sure, whatever DeSantis' stance will be, Trump will exploit it to his advantage.
At least for me, the winner in the GOP primary is the one whose able to chart his or her own course for the future. Someone who is in charge of an organization must be capable of proving themselves capable of that and winning the trust that they can do that. According to many polls including a plural of Republicans didn't want Trump running to begin with. The focus on Trump has been misguided, as he is yesterday's news.
The other candidates also have a dilemma: if the Orange Stain wins the nomination and this trials are not complete, he stands a good chance of losing to any Democratic candidate. His run’s primary purpose is to stay out of jail. If elected, he will order the DOJ to drop the case. The state cases, if not complete, will be on hold for another 4 years. I’m sure all the MAGA types would be absolutely thrilled by this outcome and would trumpet it as total vindication for all the acts committed by the Orange Stain. Of course, this would also signal a new descent into criminal behavior by our political system. More corrupt crazies would get elected. A very dark future. Alternatively, if the Orange Stain were convicted of a felony before the primaries ended, it might see the end of his run. Even at the convention, the Republicans might see fit not to allow a felon to run. Their odds of capturing the White House would be considerably better running even DeSantis if the Democrats run Biden/Harris again. The House races would probably favor Democrats with a Trump conviction. In the end , with a Republican in the White House and a Democratic Congress, the new president might even be in a safer place to pardon Trump and thereby end his political future. The state cases against him would be free to proceed but there would be no Republican downside to continuing there vocal support for him. Divided government would continue.
It’s not that tough of an issue. This indictment is politically motivated, and it’s the most blatant example of in an ongoing pattern of the misuse of the justice system by the Democrats. If you are a prominent Republican supporter, you are at risk of an indictment that can ruin you financially even if you are found innocent. Look at the example of General Michael Flynn. Nixon did it with the IRS back in the early 1970s, and it was very wrong. The late former Democrat National Party Chairman, Lawrence O’Brian, talked about it then. The Democrats are doing it now. Why do you think they want 87,000 armed new IRS agents? It’s the Democrat not so secret police. I do not support Trump in the primaries, but I do support his fight against this dangerous misuse of government power.
I wish Trump were “yesterday’s news.” He’s 78 years old. He’ll be over 80 if elected president. It’s time for him to retire and pass the responsibility to the next generation.
Which polls? The polling that I see shows Trump leading DeSantis by incredible amounts everywhere... and that a majority of Republican voters want Trump as their nominee... not a plurality, a majority... Right now, around 60% of them (and is only increasing due to Indictment Hoax #2 making him into even more of a martyr).
Republican congressmen, it appears, are clients of the same attorneys -- those in the firm of Obfuscation and Delay, LLD. Regards, and enjoy the show. We, the hard-working(?) taxpayers, have popped for the price of admission.
This (This) is why Donald Trump must be supported as the candidate. If he loses, then the Uniparty Deep State wins. It's as simple as that. This is the final stand. Either "we" win (with Trump) or "they" win (anyone but Trump). --- I'm loyally standing behind the guy who has loyally stood up for me since 2015/2016. All the other Uniparty candidates can go pound sand.
Really? Why has it taken the Justice Department six years to get to the Biden bribery case? Why has the Hunter laptop taken five years? You really have it backwards.
Hi, John Hamilton. Why indeed, when Mr. Donald Trump held both the Presidency of the United States of America and control of Congress a while back? The sole logical answer I can come up with is that the probability of winning a case was not great. Regards, stay safe 'n well.
