Translation: You think that your own self-devised criteria for this particular thread should not apply to you. What you did was the equivalent of, "Anyone not operating with my perspective is a [fill in the blank]."

It's similar to when Leftwingers claim that they want -- say -- a frank and honest dialogue about race and racism and then make it abundantly clear afterwards that what they really meant was that all respondents must adhere to the Left's current set of Politically Correct beliefs and assertions. Nice!

Psssst . . . oh . . . and labeling yourself a sane centrist makes you neither sane nor a centrist.

We obviously have different ideas of what "truth" is. Do you think there is some objective way to determine if right wing TV radio hosts are "disgusted" that Obama is President? I mean if they say, "Hey I'm disgusted that he's President," then yes you could count that. But otherwise you are just projecting your own feelings, not defining a truth. You feel that no President has ever been more hated by the other side than President Obama. I feel that no President was hated by the other side as much as President Bush.

So how to quantify that as to which is "the truth?"

I don't know. I don't think you would trust a poll of media with the question, "Are you disgusted that President Obama is President?"

Since there is little objective standard to this, I await the day when there is an Obama assassination book, play, and movie, and it's met with little indignation in the media. On that day, I will concede that President Obama is hated as much as President Bush was.

In the meantime, why does it matter to you so much. I wasn't interested in whether Chris Matthews or Ed Schultz was "disgusted" with President Bush being President. I mean, I admit it was pretty likely but ultimately irrelevant. Why does that mean so much to you?

Prime example as to why hseiken is correct; you cannot reason with the people that follow the lines of thought you have pointed out. Rather than acknowledge obvious faults in their own party and with their own people they immediately turn an open, inclusive post into a partisan post against the opposite party. There is no reasoning with partisans. While I fully believe any US citizen should be allowed to vote, if we were to remove that right from anyone it should be the partisans. They have done their best to screw up our nation by continuing to vote for the same two parties which, other than a few issues, have been guiding this nation along a single track which continues to lead to war, debt, and nation wide dysfunction.

Another way to see it is that if they continue to believe that their party is, despite all evidence, going to benefit the nation, you cannot convince them otherwise. They already believe in a fantasy world. People need to look at the politician not the party. Then they need to drink away the depression caused by knowing that person is simply going to enrich themselves at the cost of all of us, and probably throw in a few meaningless laws that arbitrarily abridge freedom because they can.

If being open minded means that smartmouthedwoman has to lend credibility to any of the hogwash you spout ... Well, I cannot speak for them ... But you can count me in the group you describe as close minded.
I am in no way obligated to entertain your crap as having any semblance to being ingenuous, forthright, or respectful of others.

Not that I am claiming to be any better ... But as long as you want to sling mud ... Well

Agreed. Fascism for the political elites, and a quasi-Marxism for the unwashed masses.

Case in point - from the freaking White House no less: "What we're not for is negotiating with people with a bomb strapped to their chest. The Republicans have provided a laundry list of essentially ransom demands." senior White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer said on CNN.

for people not paying attention "senior White House adviser" means he is speaking directly for the president, and everything coming out of his mouth is straight from the top. Pathetic, is what this president and his party have become.

Wrong Sparky but I’m going to entertain you if for nothing else other than to school you on a few points………….

First: All through my original post that started this thread I conceded and alluded to the fact that neither side is perfect.

You see this is where speaking about something of what you know lends to your credibility, and helps in not making you look like a fool. Did you even bother to read the entire post or did you just read one of my replies and go ballistic?

Second: I said that there was no point in going back & forth like children over what people on the left did when President Bush was in office opposed to what people are doing now with president Obama because it's childish, the message gets lost and everybody shuts down. This is what I said:

Let me guess………………….you must have fallen asleep during this part right???

Third: my questions at the end of the post wasn’t about me, I was simply asking for you guys on the right to give me your honest believes in whether or not, if everything you hear from pundits on the right is legitimate. That didn't mean for you to turn it into the classic bickering between five year olds that goes a little something like: "yeah I know it is but what about yours"

That’s all, it’s not about me or about me trying to make myself out to be some high & mighty so & so.

I simply laid out where all of us are politically, and at the end asked what you thought of the more extreme voices on the right.

Yes…….admittedly HOPING that just one of you would come forward and say "yes", Sane, your right, a deaf, dumb, blind person could see that not everything they say is true, and sometimes they cry fire when there isn’t even smoke. (seriously it wasn't too much to ask for)

I admitted that not every journalist on the left is completely free from their own bias, here it is AGAIN:

But you guys just can’t do it can you, no; instead you want to deflect by picking on my user name like that has anything to do with anything. Oh my God, how pathetic is that, really?

Try to STOP getting so offended every time you hear criticism about folks you obviously admire, and make your brain neutral long enough to allow some critical thinking to take place.

I’m not looking to throw any bombs, set myself up as a messiah or anything else, I’d just like some honest opinions about people that I think are mostly full of it.

And it’s cool if you don’t think they are, but don’t attack me for my opinion.

    Black Sand,

I didn't bother looking at the video as I am positive that you, like others, have completely miss-read me, and I'm really not interested in looking at some ridiculous video that has no bearing on the questions I asked at the end of my original post.

I would ask however that you read my reply to "Gatewood" as I believe it will clarify things for you.

I fully respect your wishes of not reading my reply to Gatewood if you so choose not to, but please know that I'm not the person you think I am, I do not think in the manner in which you perceive me to think, and I am not as extreme as you'd like to believe I am. (yes I have a crystal ball)

Please have a pleasant Sunday...............and thanks for playing.......

Talking about those on the left? I agree totally, no matter the mountains of data that social security and the war on poverty have failed so miserably they keep pressing those programs. It is like "what would it take for you to believe what is before your eyes"?

Hey, that's cool ... And as I thought, I paid more attention to your long diatribe and subsequent responses than you did to the 8 second video.
If you had watched the video ... You would begin to understand how wrong you actually are ... Because it didn't have a freaking thing to do with you or what you think (not that I would assume to think more than what you say).

That's what I mean by respect for others ... And your evident lack thereof.
You really don't strike me as being "extreme" anything ... More like the garden variety mud slinger ... Not remarkable at all.

To ask for civility has some merit ... But then you successfully destroyed any realistic belief that what you were engaging in was an ingenuous or forthright attempt to honor your own aspirations.
That is what happens when the petty attempt to be noble ... And the arrogant attempt to be intelligent.
I on the other hand hold none of those respectable traits ... And I am willing to call it the way it is, with no regard for politically correct BS.

You can put lace on a bowling ball ... But it is still a bowling ball ... Face it, you are just a bowling ball.

As usual Mike you raise sound, reasonable counter arguments (could you please teach a class on how to do that with the rest of the righties in here………please?)

    And you’re absolutely right, it’s a feeling, a sense, I’ll admit that.

Of course they don’t come out and say: “hey, we don't like president Obama, and we're not about to give him a fair shot”

But come on man, you and I both have the intelligence and 6th sense enough to be able to just pick up on things. (lord I’m gonna get slammed for that statement)

You can look at body language, tone, inflection of speech during sentence structure. It all comes together.

You’d have to truly be either dead or not paying attention to see the resentment & disgust they have with not only the president, but almost every politician on the left when they talk about them on their shows, and you can literally hear the anger from the right-wing radio hosts if your dialed into their shows.

The crude comments, the put-downs, the off-color jokes, hell the emails that fly around electronically from coast to coast. I've seen emails about the president that would make Charles Manson cringe.

I’ll admit that Mathews does it sometimes when he talks about people on the right.

You could see his body actually writhing and his face sneering as he’s talking about them, also the snide remarks he makes sometimes.

Why does it matter to me……because unlike you, there are millions of people who listen to these folks, turn off the televisions, go to work, school, play, whatever, and walk around mad for the rest of the day from what they’ve heard.

Then (those very upset people) go to town hall meetings where things like maybe healthcare is being discussed and do complete freak-outs because Glen Beck & his magic white board explained why Obamacare is the apocalypse……………….

The point is they get all riled up by lies & miss-information by people with agendas, and that hurts all of us Mike, regardless of who’s doing it.

They in turn tell their elected officials that they don’t want or need this or that because Glen Beck said it was evil……and Washington comes to a screeching halt.

God you’re good with words, and obviously extremely intelligent................but not so good at reading between the lines or people.

I am no mud slinger, seriously, and I take more heat from my side more than I care to mention because of the fact that I call fouls on everyone, not just one side.

But see, you told on yourself, when you called my post a "diatribe"............ well now see that alone tells me all I need to know.

Like I said before, have a wonderful Sunday............

. . . and then you attacked everyone who didn't think like you think. So here's the question, are you really that oblivious to the meaning of what you wrote in your thread starter?

The partisans are the fools who keep reelecting politicians who only use their position and power in office to loot the treasury and enrich and empower themselves and their personal, political and corporate cronies. As long as their guy won, and it allows them to do the Snoopy dance, it does not matter if "their guy" breaks all his campaign promises and does a horrible job in office.

It's just about partisan politics with these people. They'd rather eat broken glass then admit any of their guys or their policies are bad.

    Thanks, made it back alive......................

Man the trees are so pretty up here in New England in the fall when all the leaves are turning & falling...................

    Anyway..........

You raised many good points, and yes there are organizations & branches of the government that could definitely be questioned and/or overhauled.

I don't believe it's as bad as the picture you painted, and the thing that you guys always seem to forget is that somebody has to pay for the roads, the bridges, the schools and many other things that we all enjoy.

Have you ever been to India, Haiti’s, South America, Mexico.............I have...............I'll keep paying my taxes thank you very much.

But let's get back to the reason why I started the thread in the first place that a lot of folks just either don't seem to get or don't want to answer.

Do you think..................that a large majority of the pundits in the right-wing blogosphere, and on radio, and on television are truly genuine in their reporting, in their stories, in their day to day business of telling America what’s going on in Washington and with this president?

I for one don't, and I think it hurts the entire country because there are millions of people walking around furious over literally nothing.

This president is by no means perfect or some type of messiah, and I don't view him as that at all.

But I also don't see all the fires that the right has started and I'm just too damn intelligent to fall for a lot of the nonsense I hear.

Before you start.................yes, some of the folks on the left are questionable, but we don't have a republican in the Whitehouse right now, and I've already admitted in not only this thread but in several others that not everyone on the left is dealing with a full deck.

All I'm interested in is your thoughts on the pundits & media types on the right.

I'm talking about people on both the left and the right who continue to vote in the same bought and sold ********s over and over while ignoring the bad their politicians do and yelling about how the other side is the cause of all the nations problems.

You’re not an airhead, and I wouldn't say anything that mean.

I said that you’re stuck on being defensive and stuck on a few replies that you basically recycle and re-use for all of your answers....................to all posts.

I think you put too much importance on what people say, SC. Freedom of speech gives people the right to say things you disagree with. For all we know, all those anti-Obama sentiments you 'quoted' earlier might have been put out there by the Democrats in order to drum up sympathy for the president. If you can't provide a link to the source, you could very well be a DNC plant yourself, following instructions.

I've always been a Bush supporter so I understand your pain. However, lashing out at Republicans only makes you look like an Obama mouthpiece. We've heard it all before... from the POTUS.

    Spare us the dressing-downs.

    Ok,

So it’s the Democrats who said all of those things and somehow “snuck” them into the daily’s on the right-wing radio & television shows in order to drum up sympathy????
