I found this hilarious! Ted Galen Carpenter, formerly of the Cato Institute gets canned after 37 years because the donors decided they had enough of non-intervention.

    The Ukraine Lobby’s Latest Targets

"The Ukraine lobby is the latest example of a foreign government and its American supporters having a dangerously outsize impact on U.S. policy and the overall public perspective. Activists have attempted to harass and silence opponents of the fawning U.S. support for Volodymyr Zelensky’s government. At times, Ukraine and its Western backers have fostered a campaign of outright neo-McCarthyism against critics, utterly chilling debate regarding policy toward Kyiv.

The determination of Zelensky’s regime and its ideological allies in the West to silence critics has become increasingly flagrant. That objective was abundantly clear in the summer of 2022, when the Ukraine government’s Center for Countering Disinformation published a “blacklist” of such opponents. Numerous prominent Americans were on that list, including then Fox News host Tucker Carlson, former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, and Cato Institute Senior Fellow Doug Bandow, once an aide to President Ronald Reagan. A subsequent CCD document labeled Kyiv’s critics as “disinformation terrorists” and “war criminals.” Several blacklisted individuals have been assassinated: fortunately, no Americans yet."

    Not assassinated so far!

Anyway, this is a good example that think tanks are simply tools for their donors and when the donor's interests changed, like with Ukraine, libertarian "principles' like non interventionism go out the window, along with long time employees who won't switch sides.

I'm sure Carpenter will show up on substack.

Zelensky has the fawning support of pretty much everyone in Congress, both sides, because they are like most of the government in the pocket of the weapons makers.

It didn't matter that Zelensky contradicted himself in front of a meeting of the joint houses of Congress, just as long as the contradicting statements he made were the ones Congress wanted to hear.

It was Dec 21 2022 when Zelensky stated that Ukraine had defeated Russia
    (standing ovation)

Followed by a request for another 60,000 million dollars of weapons he needs to win the war.

So he had won and he had not won.

Congress doesn't care if an argument is false or even meaningless,

as long as the lobby pays the media to praise them.

And the military industrial complex is the biggest lobby

and therefore the one members of Congress have to back.

Congress loves Zelensky, the joint houses of Congress gave him a standing ovation just for arriving,
even before he talked rubbish which they also adored.

Zelensky requests all those weapons, over 100 billion dollars of them in 2022,
and the US govt pays for them.

They might be hoping to recover some of the money in the future, but only if
Zelensky wins and Russia is defeated and we divide it up into 17 independent
republics and buy oil and gas of them at very low prices.

But that doesn't seem very likely any more.

In any case, the money has gone into the pockets of the Military Industrial Complex.

The MICC and therefore the media, love Zelensky because he is the biggest individual customer for weapons.

Kremlin calls Poland's decision to rename Kaliningrad a 'hostile act ...

'Kaliningrad, which sits in an exclave sandwiched between Lithuania and Poland on the Baltic coast.'

Russian city will now be known as Królewiec in official documents, its name in the 15th and 16th centuries when it was ruled by Poland.
