"The Russian military has begun a brutal assault on the people of Ukraine without provocation, without justification, without necessity." This was the opening statement of the State of the Union Address Pres. Biden read off a teleprompter. It was expertly crafted in many ways, and although nothing in it was actually true, it sounded very convincing.
Part of being convincing was the speed of delivery which did not lend itself to a person thinking critically about what was being said. Falsehoods: 1. It wasn't brutal. It was designed to cause as little collateral damage as possible, so electric power, and other infrastructure were left intact. That was the original plan of the 'special military operation.' 2. By taking out the individual howitzers Kyiv used for shelling Donbas, the intended purpose was to save civilian lives in Eastern Ukraine. It was not an attack on all of the people of Ukraine as implied in 'brutal assault on the people of Ukraine'.
Oops - my error - the statement by Joe Biden was on the 23rd it appears, and was 'President Biden Holds a Press Conference' so I guess it wasn't intended to be believed, but it appears a lot of people did believe it. Why people get angry when they discover they believed a lie is an interesting question. Falsehood 3: it wasn't unprovoked 3. Moving the military in to stop the shelling came after eight years of low-level attacks by Kyiv on Donbas and on Russian-speaking Ukrainians in other parts of Eastern Ukraine. Pres. Putin appealed repeatedly to France, Germany and the U.S. to abide by the truce agreement, even the day before moving the military in Pres. Putin wrote a last-minute appeal both to Pres. Biden and somebody else and got ignored by one and the other replied 'our plans have not changed.' So Pres. Putin did verify that there was no alternative to military action.
So all Putin really wanted to do was illegally and immorally take over Ukraine and subjugate its people with minimal damage and loss of life? But those silly Ukrainians put up a fight and now look what they've done to themselves. Is that it? Don't bother bringing that despicable propagandist's nonsense on this board.
So, when the hapless Ukrainians didn't surrender, they made themselves responsible for all that's happened since?
"Let me annex your country or it is your fault that I will kill you." Our paid Putinist propagandists really aren't that bright.
Whatever they need we should provide. The courage of these people, civilians and military, is awesome.
