The work, presented here last week at the 84th annual meeting of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists, offers dramatic evidence of recent evolution in Europe and shows that most modern Europeans don’t look much like those of 8000 years ago. The modern humans who came out of Africa to originally settle Europe about 40,000 years are presumed to have had dark skin, which is advantageous in sunny latitudes. And the new data confirm that about 8500 years ago, early hunter-gatherers in Spain, Luxembourg, and Hungary also had darker skin: They lacked versions of two genes—SLC24A5 and SLC45A2—that lead to depigmentation and, therefore, pale skin in Europeans today. http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2015/04/how-europeans-evolved-white-skin The evidence shows that most humans in Europe up until 8,500 years ago were darker - giving more clout to the "out of Africa theory."
Maybe this explains white supremacists insecurities, we are serious "young 'uns" in the "race" department. good if old link, thanks.
I think that's the prevailing theory. There's a book "Not out of Africa" . Did you read it? I didn't, but this is an interesting subject and I will read it and report back.
Yes as well as all the genetic adaptations that have so far taken place as we homo sapiens continue the journey. Surely you don't think an ENVIRONMENTAL adaption is equivalent to an advancement in our evolution?
white skin and green/blue eyes are reletively new and due to reletively recent mutations. Neanderthal genes also plays a part in this.
Ancient Tools Point to Early Human Migration Into Arabia | Science ... www.sciencemag.org/news/2011/.../ancient-tools-point-early-human-migration-arabia Nov 30, 2011 - Genetic and archaeological evidence suggest that our species first left Africa roughly 80,000 years ago, traveling north through the Middle East to populate Eurasia. In recent years, however, archaeologists have discovered stone tools on the Arabian Peninsula that to some suggest that modern humans ... Trail of Tools Reveals Modern Humans' Path Out of Africa https://news.nationalgeographic.com/.../150224-africa-stone-tools-modern-humans-ar... Feb 24, 2015 - Early Homo sapiens, known from fossils found at Omo and Herto in Ethiopia, began making stone tools in the Nile Valley of Egypt some 150,000 years ago. Previous studies have traced their path out of Africa through Sinai to the Levant. New research reveals a second, more southerly route through Arabia, ...
HERC2/OCA2, which causes blue eyes, light skin and blond hair, was already present in northern Europeans in Scandinavia for the last 10,000 years or more. It's southern Europeans in Spain who became lighter about 8,500 years ago by interbreeding with European hunter-gatherers from Scandinavia.
What other kinds of adaptations are there? White people had to evolve greater intelligence to cope with a harsher environment. This greater intelligence leads to civilization and the environment incident to civilization rewards brain over brawn, unlike the uncivilized environment in Africa in which physical prowess is more important than intelligence.
It is not nonsense. You can understand what it says. What is your explanation of the greater intelligence of whites compared to blacks?
are you a biologist? am I? neither of us is qualified to make a scientific argument without actual scientific evidence. but i will say that centuries of discrimination and persecution sure hasn't helped blacks get educated.
