Neil deGrasse Tyson recently said that it is very likely we live in a computer simulation and Elon Musk believes we live in a computer simulation, so I want to play with the idea that we are just artificially intelligent code, living in a computer simulation sort of like The Sims, except on a universal level.

If this is true, were we given free will or do we merely follow our program?
Did the simulation start at the Big Bang, or did it start at a later time with all the pieces already in place?
    Are the creators observing us?
Do the creators interfere or leave us alone?
Is magic and psychic powers just glitches that people have figured out how to advantage of?
What happens when we die in the game? Are we "reborn" into a new game? If we did good, do we get to go to the next level?

This is in the Religion & Philosophy section because it would be almost impossible to disprove which makes it bad science, but I just wanted to have some fun.

The universe is a cheap hack. Everywhere you turn are shortcuts and dodges. Space, time, and matter are granular. Whoever set it up couldn't be bothered with sufficient bandwidth, so they cheated by only specifying their reality down to a certain minimum space-time interval. Like a flickering film projected on a basement wall. And worse, they didn't even bother filling in the details. Most of "nature" is just fractal self-regression, like an automated paint-by-numbers program.

What a dump of a universe. It's not even a good simulation - probably set up by some graduate student with borrowed equipment using a tiny grant.

Does it make a difference? Simulation that is indecipherable from reality is thus reality... Is time any less relevant just because it is a human invention?

LOL yes this is true, but if we are just simple binary code, I hope I am number 1.

I believe in determinism where each choice we make is decided by chemical and electrical precursors that happen absent our will which lead us to an inexorable choice thus making it anything but a choice. Are we living in a computer simulation? Who knows as this may just be a very convincing reality akin to the shadows on the wall of Plato's Cave.

Determinism makes sense if we are just computer programs in a simulation. We do exactly what we are programmed to do.

Makes sense to me even if we are carbon based life forms.

we have free will, a program would be boring

Did the simulation start at the Big Bang, or did it start at a later time with all the pieces already in place?
no big bang, it started with caves and clubs, level basic, once you club your first wife you move up a level, you kill a saber tooth or a dinosaur you skip three levels, you get clubbed you start over

    Are the creators observing us?
of course they are, they also have buttons to interfere with our progress, invisible things that hits you behind the head or rocks that fall on you out of the sky, they also control the hungry predators, it's them against us

Do the creators interfere or leave us alone?
nope interfère big time, they get really mad when you survive or don't lose an arm

Is magic and psychic powers just glitches that people have figured out how to advantage of?
nope you earn your powers with clubbing women, killing predators and dodging rocks falling from the sky

What happens when we die in the game? Are we "reborn" into a new game? If we did good, do we get to go to the next level?
you run out of lives you get replaced with someone else

When it comes to our existence, you will listen to Neil, but not Jesus? Space is not what you think. They can only get so high in elevation, they cannot get into what we think we know as deep space. The firmament is in their way, which is strong and as a molten looking glass. It divides the waters above the firmament from the waters below the firmament. Neil deGrasse Tyson even knows this, he and other lucipherian scientists, they just tell you different or lie. It keeps the money coming in, if they told us the truth there would be no deep space exploration budgets, because there is no deep space. And it would give a stronger thought to people of God's existence, considering the firmament can be seen. So they send us computer graphic images of the earth, people eat it up and their luxurious lifestyles can continue.

I'm really not sure what's the big deal in thinking the earth is flat. It's no different than you thinking it's round. Why do you laugh? Is it because the flat earth cannot be proven? Neither can your ball earth, you really think we are walking around on a giant ball. That's what's funny. "Yeah the magic of gravity keeps water to the ball." Yet this cannot be demonstrated. Which is a process of the scientific method, along with observation. Can't demonstrate it can't observe it. Yep must be true. HAHAHA

A round Earth HAS been proven, you just ignore it and say that NASA is just a conspiracy. Conspiracy theories do not make scientific theories.

True, but you can throw some randomness in a program and it would appear to be freewill without being freewill. (A trick used by many games).

That's what I originally thought, but then I realized that the program could have started last week with everything already in place including our memories.

LOL! It does seem sometimes that we have benevolent beings working against us, but I wonder if maybe this is like a science experiment where researchers change a few parameters like cranking up the xenophobia or violence on people and seeing what the result is.[

That explains why Elon Musk wants to get to Mars so bad, he's trying to level up. :D

We must not have very many lives. I wonder if there is power-up to gain more lives?

No, they have merely come up with equations that support a ball earth theory. However, equations can be made to fit any theory. That's why true science requires observation and demonstration. For the ball earth, neither can be done. Can you present a demonstration where water sticks to a ball spinning at 1,040 miles an hour at the equator. Can you anywhere on earth observe the curvature. Does the properties of any sphere no matter the size, have very large flat areas. No it does not. A sphere has zero properties of flatness. Yet we observe vast distances of flatness. Such as at the beach.

We was indoctrinated with this crap at our first day of school. We had zero ability to argue. That is indoctrination by definition. So I understand how it is ridiculous to hear someone say the earth is flat. Your entire life is in opposition. However, if you drop your indoctrination for just one day, and research it. You would be surprised. Where is your proof of a ball earth, proof not equations.

Humans have seen Earth from space. We have man-made objects orbiting Earth. That is proof. If you think NASA is lying, then all you have is a conspiracy theory and I have no time for it.

These computer enthusiasts never cease to amaze. I think their imagination is limited since everything can be reduced to a mere machine according to them. I tell ya, i'm pretty sure we don't live in a matrix this universe is real and we have a long way to come to understand it.

People act as if God's creation can be understood in it's entirety by man. We will never understand God's creation, if we did, you know man would try and duplicate it with no regard to the consequences. The only thing I can say is I am pretty darn sure, it's not a ball.

What if our planet is blown up by a giant meteorite or a cosmic event? We may not even survive long enough to understand a mere 5% of the universe and reality. Or we may evolve to unimaginable levels of intelligence, be able to teleport, manipulate matter and keep our consciousness intact even after death. Who knows?

Reality is just too complex to be the mere product of a machine. And again, who made the machine? Do they live in a matrix as well?

It's not a planet, and even if it was, what makes you think it's ours. You belong to your masters, and you will serve them. You will even do as they say, and say the earth is a ball. Now get to work make that money, so they can take it from you.
