    A conservative is someone who resists change and wants to keep his privileges. A reactionary is someone who wants to undo all these reforms that working people have won after generations of stuggle and return the country to a more retrograde position.
    Enough with the Tea Party bigots!!!!!

    No.....often conservatism is a longing for the days of yore or a restoration to a historical cultural reality.

    The Amish are very conservative....they're just attempting to conserve the 1700's lifestyle. Islamic Fundamentalists are conservative....and yet they're attempting to conserve values of the 1100's and largely reject cultural changes since that time.

    It's often a battle between historical idealism and current cultural reality.


    The cultural element of the Tea Party platform is no different in that respect.
