I keep seeing news stories about Florida and their anti-illegal immigrant laws going into effect that are scaring the local Latino community.

But, I'm also seeing a major worry among the business community and farmers that they are going to lose their workforce, and that will lead to an employment crisis. That's amid record-low unemployment.

So, I think that settles it. There are too many businesses! It's time to downsize and consolidate the existing places of employment so that there are fewer places of work, and the ones that do remain should hire the remaining number of American workers.

It's too bad that many former high-level administrators and owners of existing businesses will have to take lower positions and lower pay. But that's what happens when the number of the population shrinks and can no longer support all these administrator jobs and businesses.

Pssst pssst, the Right loves actually illegals/immigrants and the cheap unregulated labour that they bring.:whisper: (why do you think, virtue signaling aside, they've done nothing about it).

Sadly though, yes, when the flow of immigrants stop so do all these businesses. Looks like a downsizing is in order!

Yes, I knew that. But maybe they don't?

It seems that they forgot that when they at best gave way to Populus sentiment or at worst gave way to hate.

On the other hand, that might explain why the system is so broken and seems to be out of control like a runaway vehicle heading towards the edge of a cliff and nobody is at the wheel driving.

Looks like the companies that are dependent on illegal aliens for labor will have to stop paying slave wages so they can get some people to work for them.

I can probably hook you up with a job picking oranges around here. You got to be quick on your feet though and be able to tote that heavy harvester sack and work outside in the elements in the heat

The really STUPID part is that I started a thread the other day on the plastic surgery scams in Florida that are taking lives, which DeSantis is doing NOTHING about but then it is EASIER to rile up people about some fantasists idea of what “they” are doing to children

Less businesses means less competition. If you want higher wages, lower unemployment is the best way to get them. When everyone needs a job, there will always be someone who will do your job for less money than you. When everyone needs more workers, businesses compete with eachother for those workers by raising wages, benefits and improving working conditions.

And of course, they also compete with eachother by offering better products/services at lower prices than their competitors.

Less businesses just means the owners of those businesses have to compete less for both workers and customers, which results in workers getting paid less to produce poorer quality products at higher prices, with the employers keeping more of the revenue as profits since there's less options in the market.

Competition is the real-world driver of income equality, and the primary driver of competition is more options. Ideally unemployment will be low enough that business owners will only make marginally more than their employees (they have to still make more, otherwise there's no point in starting a business) because the success of the business depends on paying high enough wages to keep quality employees around while still selling product at a price that keeps customers coming back.

Immigrants from failed economies who are accustomed to far lower living standards and who will work for lower wages undermine this dynamic. Unscrupulous employers lower wages while keeping more of the profit, and/or putting more of that profit into driving out the competition, which decreases options in the market and destabilizes the whole thing. In theory, those immigrants will eventually demand higher standards to match the native population they've immigrated to ...which is why the influx of new immigrants that havn't yet been 'spoiled' by prosperity must remain constant.

The solution is not less businesses. The solution is limiting immigration.

Seems some people are for open borders. No borders mean no country.

Exactly! Kinda makes one wonder why Democrats so readily support a scenario where people are forced to work for slave wages. Don't it?
