Every time an AR15 is used in a mass shooting - and quite often, even when they aren't - the anti-gun left, in a pre-packaged reactionary response, screams from a ban on same, complete with "information" designed to evoke an emotional response, and, they hope, gain your support for said ban.

What do they NOT tell you?

    -American civilians own ~20,000,000 AR15s
-Of the 636 mas shootings in the US, 2022, 8 involved an AR15
-OF the 660 people killed in those mass shootings 54 were killed with an AR15.

Why do they not tell you this?

Because they know there's no sound argument for the ban they call for.
Because they know they need to prey on the emotions of the ignorant to move their ban forward
Because they know preying on the emotions of the ignorant works.
Because they don't care about mass shootings or the people in them - they just want to ban AR15s.

There's no rational, reasoned argument for a ban on AR15s; those who support said ban, in their responses, will demonstrate the truth of this statement.

I have explained why they want to ban the AR many times-to them it is a symbol of a culture they despise: it is a firearm more likely to be owned by those of us who oppose the collectivist authoritarian mindset of the anti rights coalition. It also is to set a precedent. Ban guns rarely used in crime, and the banning of handguns will follow

You don't need to explain it to me. ;-)

    Re:
While I do not believe that all gun control advocates want to totally disarm all Americans many of the things that they want could very well lead to just that.

    Please excuse the following:

First they came for the "assault weapons", and I did not speak out—

Because I did not own an "assault weapon".

Then they came for the handguns, and I did not speak out—

Because I did not own a handgun.

Then they came for the rifles and I did not speak out—

Because I did not own a rifle

Then they came for the shotguns —and then I learned what "common sense" gun control "for the children" really meant.

the gun banners are in a tough position

their only valid argument for wanting to ban AR 15s is their claim they are used (in less than 2%) in murders and banning them could (could not will) decrease 2% of the murder numbers. If that is their reason then they have to want to ban the guns used in 75% of the murders. If they deny they want to ban handguns, then their one valid argument for banning rarely used in crime ARs is proven to be a lie.

People who have to lie to support their argument often are.

That's why they ignore the 2% and focus on "mass shootings". If you make the claim that "AR-15s are the weapon of choice for mass shooters" and then say "there are 600 mass shootings every year", the average low information voter is going to put apples and oranges together to get scared.
