This is close to my home. Thieves appear to be very comfortable here.

California voters voted for this. Its supporters and the media labeled it as:
    "Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act"
Practically no one admits to voting for it!
    Isn't ballot harvesting grand?

sadly this is true, for people as well as businesses, if the risk\cost of breaking the rules is less than the profits from breaking them, many will

Yeah, this is one of the things liberals and I disagree on. It isn't an easy question on how to stem the tide of lawbreakers, but I suspect it begins at home.
Some in this country want to cut down on "punishment for bad behavior", but it's necessary. Somewhere many young people have gotten the impression that it's ok to break the law, and I can only assume that starts at an early age at home. The schools are increasingly unable to address bad behavior due to parental influence and complaints.
Then some more liberal areas try to go easy on criminals. I get their point in a way, but one must realize that some people will just take advantage, and it does not work out well. Bad/illegal behavior needs to have consequences.

CA dems can change it back, and then republicans will run around and say <insert dem politician here> is locking up black people. They did the same **** to Biden and Kamala.

Nah, not all. The 94 crime bill didn’t only affect blacks, but it didn’t stop trump from calling it racist to put black people in prison.

Got a link and some context to your claim of what Trump said?

She was convicting pot smokers. Perhaps society is better off not throwing people into the legal meat grinder for smoking a plant. Thieves should have to repay their debt to society. Los Angeles is dirty and smelly. Perhaps thieves can be assigned work instead of jail.

The method these thieves are using, a saturation of the defenses, is fairly new, maybe gang initiation, I'm sure a method will be developed to thwart this, but that needs to be stepped up. Anyone who thinks these thieves will stop due to political party is being obtuse.

And the bimbo did that while she smoked pot. She also used prisoners for slave labor and wanted to fine parents of kids who missed school. This is why blacks in CA hate her.

The first time I noticed it was during the Floyd protests/riots. People got on social media and *organized* dozens if not hundreds to assault the local mall, breaking windows and basically stealing stuff. Like "flash mobs".
Hard to catch it, as it happens in minutes and cops are usually caught unaware quickly enough.
Another negative aspect of social media.

They certainly act like flash mobs, but these could very well be organized. In one town south of me, gangs would rob banks, and as the getaway vehicle made its escape, another gang member would play vehicle blocker in case a patrol car was in the area. Should the blocker be arrested, the charge is far less severe, hence they would use initiation members or members with only more minor arrests.

Theft is not political, it is a crime and for some, a business.

I strongly oppose drug laws, but I do support labor for inmates. Imagine if all these smash and grab thieves repaying their debt to society with their labor? If they knew stealing would lead to work, I think most of them would avoid it.

This is getting and old fraudulent right wing argument. Prop 47 only limited the crime to be a crime but a misdemeanors when it's like under a 1000 bucks, and it falls under the old laws when it's above it. A crime like this, very likely was where more than a 1000 bucks got stolen. And so it has nothing to do with prop 47 being there in the first place.
