Russia does not appear to be taking things lying down-according to this (re-blogged) entry from the 20 Committee---which contains some material from Izvestia. http://mrmeangenes.com/2014/02/27/the-most-pressing-issue-for-crimeans-is-where-to-get-weapons/ Stronly suggested reading !
Saw this a few hours later: Russian (expatriates ?) men, armed with outdated Soviet Bloc weaponry, have seized the Crimean Parliament, and have hoisted the Russian flag like a Jolly Roger over the building. http://news.yahoo.com/government-buildings-seized-ukraines-crimea-070506796.html
Good for them and for Jews who will be gratefully received with open arms by the Russian's when fleeing persecution in Kiev.
Recently i read that Crimea is mostly a Russian land where people speak and feel Russian. I guess those developments are natural. I hope that the over 100.000 of my compatriots living in the area will be good and there will be no need for evacuation like in Abkhazia .
