Obama takes "full responsibility" for fixing HealthCare.gov BOSTON (CNN) President Barack Obama acknowledged Wednesday the national health care law's new website was "too slow" and too many people "have gotten stuck" in it. "I'm not happy about it and neither are a lot of Americans who need health care," he said at a Boston rally to tout and defend the Affordable Care Act, which is the signature domestic achievement of his presidency. The President talked about the miserable start up of HealthCare.Gov, which went online October 1. "There is no excuse for it and I take full responsibility for making sure it gets fixed ASAP. We are working overtime to improve it every day," Obama said. The President delivered his address at Boston's Faneuil Hall, the Colonial-era meeting house where then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney signed into law a sweeping health plan. The President says that Obamacare was modeled on the Massachusetts law. "This is the hall where seven years ago Democrats and Republicans came together to make health reform a reality for the people of Massachusetts. It's where then Gov. Mitt Romney, Democratic legislators, Sen. Ted Kennedy, many of the folks here today joined forces to connect the progressive vision of health care for all with some ideas about markets and competition that had long been shared by conservatives," said Obama. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...ibility-for-fixing-healthcare-gov/?hpt=hp_bn3 Well golly gee Mr. President, that's mighty big of you to take responsibility for fixing it, but why won't you take any responsibility for the horrendous state its in? That's right, Obama probably didn't even know about that, who could possibly expect him to know the status of his signature legislation in the weeks up to and after its launch... Then the president has the gall to mention bipartisan support in the MA Healthcare program when his own signature legislation had zero bipartisan support, WTF?
I think he learned about the problems with the website through the newspapers. I mean that is where everyone gets their new today isn't it???
Obamacare is a dream for the rich elderly.... it forces the poor young to pay for the elderly generations healthcare. Like the national debt spending, Obamacare is just more generational theft. Young people are getting screwed. I wonder how long it will take them to figure that out?
Well, rumors were out yesterday that Obama would make a surprise visit to Fenway Park during the World Series. Sounded like a bad idea to me, considering a crowd that big has got to include a LOT of folks unhappy with Obamacare. Not hearing a word about that visit today, so obviously it was scrapped. He did do a fundraiser in Beantown last night, but we all know Obamacare isn't hurting the rich, so I'm sure he raised a few million for more of the same. CONGRATS to the Red Sox! Glad Barry didn't crash your party!
Hes just trying to find any kind of excuse to blame a republican.... This turd sandwich is all his baby..... Is just saying "I take responsibility" actually taking responsibility? Shouldnt he resign, if hes "taking responsibility"? - - - Updated - - - april 16th....
Ironically young people and black folks supported him almost exclusively, and he has royally screwed both groups! And here's the kicker, they both still support him. Stupidity is at epidemic levels.
It could be years. Until they find they are suffering from a variety of illnesses that require expensive treatments such as cancer when they will actually be treated without having first to sell their homes.
That was where they were before. The ignorance underlying your post is staggering. The ACA short sighted poorly thought out law is NOT the only way pre-existing conditions and policy limit issues could be addressed!
OK... so Obama went to Massachusetts, comparing Mitt Romney's successful healthcare law with his unsuccessful Obamacare which was modeled after Mitt Romney's healthcare law... Why The (*)(*)(*)(*) don't we have Mitt Romney as president if Mitt can build something Obama is not able to so much as replicate? Hm?
Resign? Seriously? I mean, I get that people want accountability, but what exactly does accountability realisticly look like? Sebelius isn't going to get fired largely because the replacement options are worse (who wants to inherit that mess?) so what do you want Obama to do other than say he takes responsibility? Get a little sign for his desk that says "The Buck Stops Here!" Would that do it?
If hes going to actually take responsibility for telling out right lies to the American people, his resignation is required. .
He took full responsibility for Benghazi too. Apparently "What does it matter" is where the buck stops in this administration.
Do you think they would've voted for him if they knew? I do. Everyone has the it-can't-happen-to-me syndrome.
Yeah they still would have voted for him during the media-generated frenzy of 2008 because youth is nothing if not group-think bandwagon, image IS substance stuff that political dreams are made of. But in 2012? If then they would have known the truth about Obamacare? Perhaps not.
obama is a liar, he lied to every single person in the country, and now everyone is going to have to pay more, for what he claimed was "affordable". he has no integrity, he will never be trusted again.
Like I said, good luck with that. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the resignation, though. Also, I'm sure you had the utmost trust and faith in Obama before the troubles with the ACA.
Actually, no hes simply told too many lies, and I dont know which lie to believe.... Do you know which lie to believe?
Actually it is about jamming a square peg into a round hole it doesn't or won't fit in. This is nothing more than the government trying to manipulate an out of control health care industry. They are trying to force consumers into paying for a blood sucking industry they cannot afford, one way or another. Instead of lowering prices, they are opening the pathway for higher price gouging. If the consumers cannot support the market, then the market charging more than it deserves. Our health care system has grown too expensive for the consumers to support it. It's really that simple. And capitalism isn't a part of it anymore. You can't go fishing in watermelon patch, and you can't get blood out of a turnip, no matter what kind of a juicer you put it into.
Jay Carney has the worst job in the government. He has to twist every event into something that shifts blame or deflects attention. He's got to be getting pretty full of shrapnel by now, but he's funny to watch. I just bet he loves waking up in the morning on a work day. I wouldn't want that job for any president ever!
Obama's lies will sway people away from him, already has. But, many don't care about the lying one bit. They care about their agenda. As long as Obama and ACA are furthering their agenda, they are golden to them. We need to impede his effectiveness in furthering that agenda. We need to get out the vote in 2014, take the Senate, keep the House and impeach this POS! I think our only hope in repeal, postponing, or changing ACA lies with Biden. While Biden is strongly left, he is used to actually negotiating. Might weigh on him to make those changes to win favor in 2016.
So our health care is too expensive you say? Then why didn't the ACA address that issue in any way? It cleary does nothing at al to address the issue of cost! No measures to reign in big pharma, no measure to reign in physician's charges, nothing about medical supplies, nothing about ANYTHING cost related! Insurance only reflects underlying costs. Do nothing to address underlying costs, insurance rates will naturally only rise. The ACA is a supremely ignorant aproach!
There are cost containment provisions in the ACA. Whether they'll work is another matter. I personally support explicit cost controls for healthcare services, but I suspect that there are lots of people that disagree with that approach, mostly Republicans.
