This is a simply lovely story. This institution was given millions of dollars by Chinese donors a few years ago. Shortly thereafter, they implemented DEI and are now experiencing a drop in academic excellence. They have dropped to #14 for now but will be out of the top 100 altogether once all four grades are filled with diversity and stripped of competence. In other words, stick a fork in them in two years.

Interestingly enough, there are now fourteen exact replicas of Thomas Jefferson high school that have opened in China...... with the DEI stripped out. It looks like the Chinese accomplished two goals with the same stone. They have subverted premier education centers in America while creating premier education centers in China.

Diversity is China's strength. This is how they dismantle their enemies piece by agonizing piece.

I find it incredible that so much of the American public has been duped into accepting the DEI concept.

It's one thing to say that we should not exclude or discriminate due to race, religion etc, and that is unquestionably valid and righteous. It's totally different to say that you must include people because of those things, and that doing so is inherently beneficial.

Success in most things- our economy, our social quality, our family strength, comes from the ability to do the job right. Competence. Performance. Dedication.
Those are without question, the primary qualifications, and they have nothing to do with color or heritage.

You have to be stupid, literally, to think that you improve anything by ignoring that.

I’m still waiting to see DEI on the football field, basketball court, ice rink and baseball field. I’ll never see it because the people who want results know it doesn’t work.

At first I thought you were talking about something important like school performance, but you are concerned about the school name. Wow. Is it your school or community that has changed the name? If it isn't and doesn't effect you why do you need to tell others how wrong they are?

Uh- you missed the point that performance results among the students went rapidly downhill with the DEI adaptation?? Name of the school wouldn't make any difference. Failure is failure everywhere.

Well Fairfax has always been a liberal city so far as I know, so the social media posts lamenting Virginia democrats seem out of kilter. Unlike a lot of cities, they also seem to have a plethora of private schools to choose from. Been awhile since I have been in the area but I did note that it seemed to have private schools everywhere up there.

You are right, I did miss the point. You are also right that the name of a school is insignificant.

There are 23,882 public high schools in the US a drop from 1 to 14 is insignificant.
Public Schools are ranked primarily on test scores of students. One can create a highly ranked school by simply allowing only the best students in, however public schools by law must educate all students so this can be a false indicator of excellence because every poor student that is not let in lowers the rating of a different school where they are sent. Where I live there were 5 high schools all of the "special students" were sent to one school, one school was in the poorest minority section of the city. The other three schools were highly ranked and served the best students including the best students from the minority school. The achievement levels for the whole district were unchanged but the levels for all schools went up or down. This practice has since been dropped and since the focus has been changed to improving all schools the district scores have begun to rise.
Since there are over 25 high schools in Fairfax County one can see how the rankings for a single school could be effected by who attends the school.

Just think how smart our students would be if the schools were run like the military. Kids would learn, they wouldn't disrupt a class, and they wouldn't assault their teacher.
But we are seeing the dumbing down of America. Just look at the students who graduate today. Too many can't make change, can't write or read cursive and have to print their name. They can't compose a sentence and can't spell. Look at the dumb movies, the dumb commercials on TV, and the dumb programs on TV. Listen to the trashy language of both kids and adults. Look at the uncaring parents and the many who never marry or even live together. Affirmative action, quotas, welfare, and DEI are playing their part in dumbing down America. Those born into the situation accept it but those who have been around for a lifetime can see the handwriting on the wall -- and that handwriting ain't in cursive, it's in graffiti.
