Well there you go. It seems that there are folks, at least in Jacksonville, who think so highly of Tebow that they started a petition that would have the president demand that the Jags sign Tebow. Now I can think of a lot of things to demand of the president, but him intervening in NFL signings is not one of them. No word on if the president would also demand that Tebow develop leg speed exceeding that of a cold tortoise. http://nesn.com/2013/05/tim-tebow-f...-demand-jaguars-sign-former-jets-quarterback/ Somehow the word desperate doesnt seem strong enough in this situation. Jaguars fans really want Tim Tebow on their squad. Thats why they have filed a petition to President Barack Obama asking that he calls Jacksonvilles general manager, David Caldwell, to demand the team signs Tebow. The petition, posted to the White Houses We the People page, is titled Call NFL Jacksonville Jaguars GM David Caldwell and tell him to stop ignoring the Jaguars fans and sign Tim Tebow! As you can tell, they are exclaiming this demand. The petition reads: Jacksonville Jaguars fans want the team to sign recently released QB Tim Tebow. However, rookie general manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars David Caldwell is blocking this from happening. If the Jaguars sign & START Tebow, home games will be sold out, sales will spike, the team will win and the fans will be happy.Mr. Caldwell is ignoring lots of facts about the misunderstood Tim Tebow while in Denver: Passer rating of 125.6 is highest ever in Broncos postseason history. Most yards per completion (31.6) in NFL playoff history.100.5 QB rating is best ever for a Broncos QB in his first start.Third most passing yards in a game by a Bronco rookie QB. (308, in his 2nd start), First 15+ point comeback in the final 3 minutes of an NFL game since the merger,7 game winning drives in just 16 games! The petition sadly only has 144 signatures so far out of the needed 100,000. Jags fans have until May 30 to reach that total. And frankly, there may not be that many Jaguars fans in the world. Jacksonville fans should have probably started a much broader petition back before free agency started. One that read: Call NFL Jacksonville Jaguars GM David Caldwell and tell him to stop ignoring the Jaguars fans and sign any quarterback at all so that we dont have to watch Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne this season! Its doubtful Tebow finds a home at quarterback this offseason since he couldnt even pass Mark Sanchez on the Jets depth chart last season. Surely Jags fans wouldnt want Sanchez, right?
I don't think Tebow is as bad a passer as a lot of people (including Elway) seem to think, but he ain't great. I think it was Lombardi who turned Heisman winner Paul Hornung from a quarterback into a running back, with pretty good results. I think Tebow would make a pretty good fullback or tight end, or even an outside linebacker, but he won't allow it. That's where I lose sympathy for Tim Tebow.
