I remember the Bay of Pigs invasion, I was just entering High School. I was stated with JUSMAGTHAI in Thailand as Operation Eagle Pull came to an end and Phnom Penh fell to the Khmer Rouge. That was really the beginning of Cambodia's problems. Between 2-3 million Cambodians would either be killed by the KR or die of starvation and disease because of their harsh policies over the next 4 years. It was called the Killing Fields and the United States turned a blind eye to it all. It was left to the Vietnamese to stop the Killing Fields in 1979 with their invasion of Cambodia. Then we suddenly switch sides in that war and supported the Khmer Rouge, the very same people responsible for the death of 2-3 million of their own people out of a country of 7 million. There are times I will never understand our geopolitics.
