The BBC article below has many details of the Trans-Pacific-Partnership free trade talks, which President Obama will be doing much of in the visit he is now making. The proposed free trade pact at present includes the US, Japan, Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. South Korea is interested. China is invited if she satisfies certain conditions, but is not negotiating at this time.

So to conclude his miserable Presidency, he intends to give us NAFTA 2.0. 60% of U.S Exports, as if we need to export more, not less.

With any luck, though at great economic cost this will assure non-liberal rule in 2016. Go Obama go!

I wouldn't fault you on a political response. However, my understanding is that this isn't just something political, and it is important to think about it in different ways if one wants to try to understand what is going on.

In reality, President Obama has limited power. These kinds of things arise from the Pentagon, intelligence agencies, corporations, and so forth.

Thinking about the limited power of the Presidency, one is reminded of President Eisenhower. Eisenhower was a general, and very good at giving orders and having them followed in the military. However, when he became President, he was a bit shocked. He would give an order, and then nothing would happen.

As an American, I would say that the most important thing is that once the end-result version is drafted, all congressmen have access and time to decide, while the public are fully informed of all provisions so they may have a chance to petition their representatives to inform them of their will, and it is can be ratified or not as normal. And that means the real verbiage, not Obama talking points/insincere assurances.

If they want to try sneaking it past, "fast-tracking" etc. then I will not be happy, especially if the treaty involves loss of national sovereignty, a further increase in power of multinational corporations, or other detrimental consequences

Their original intent was to bypass debate at all costs. We can not let them get away with that.

TPP will remove congress from trade agreements with other countries who are associated with TPP. TWO wants to eventually remove all governments from free trade markets. Capitalists are lobbying the WH for their support which is why Obama is on the TPP trail in the far east. Why should anyone be surprised by this? Ed from the MSNBC Ed Show calls TPP nothing but NAFTA on steroids. Why are so many people confused about what is happening to our economy? To manufacturing? This is what New World Order looks like.
