I support trans rights but I don’t believe taxpayers should be paying for elective surgeries, especially ones that will take the soldier out of most combat ready rolls

 

It’s not my responsibility to pay for someone to mangle their gear. Do it you want, but pay for it like an adult.

 

I think those who think they are a different sex than their DNA suggests need serious psychological help. I thought Biden and the Democrats were all about the science? Guess not. My question to you is do transgendered people believe in God and that there will be a resurrection where your bodies will be made whole again after chopping off body parts?

 

I don't speak for transgender people.
Like everything else, I try not to label people so there is nothing true for ALL transgender people.
As an atheist, I am unclear on how your perception of "God" has any bearing on transgenderism.
Nobody knows what happens after death until they die and there hasn't been any late, breaking news from the other side.

My question for you is what business is it of yours what someone else chooses to do to their body?

 

Of course there is scientific truth with all people. It's male or female with DNA. And, the bible backs this up with God creating us male and female to procreate the earth. Both fit nicely with each other. And, thus, God has everything to do with perversion of what we are and how we behave. As it is stated in Romans Chapter 1, it is vile affections that are an abomination and will be dealt with as will the other perversions mentioned at the end of the chapter.
I know what happens at death and so do many others. Our spirit bodies go to spirit prison either in paradise or hell based upon our behaviors during earthly life. Our earthly bodies go into the ground but our DNA will be held in Heaven so we can be resurrected at the Judgment Day of God.
And I agree it isn't anyone else's business but then I'd like LGBTQ people to shut up about it and throwing it into the face of the other 97% of the population and forcing their behaviors on the rest of us.

Again, nonsense. Religion is just a way of controlling the masses. There are no well-known consequences. There's just a book with a bunch of made up stories that are designed to strike fear and compliance.

What makes your God anymore relevant than the other hundred of so that currently exist or the thousands that have existed? Why is it so easy for you to dismiss those and claim your version is superior but not expect others to do so to yours?

So roughly 45k US each. It's expensive, but I don't know the comparative costs or scope of other health/mental health conditions that the army covers. Could be reasonable.

 

But is the tax payer getting accurate information?

IMO, neither POTUS should interfere and the military should decide. Yet here we are...

 

It's interesting that the cost of the surgery is more than two times higher in the US than it is in Australia.

I wonder if that could be because the costs are being indirectly subsidized in some way, either with the taxpayers paying for the hospital, or through insurance policy payers. (That is, these surgeries might actually be costing a lot more, but it is not so obvious who is actually paying for it)

 

Oh yes! Across the board the same procedures, even same medications, are much more affordable in Australia.

Every thing else is more expensive in Australia, though. Odd isn't it?

 

Might not be a coincidence. Some economic/government policies simply transfer money around from one area to another. It can really be quite complicated.

If healthcare were being subsidized in some substantial way, we would expect to see higher costs elsewhere in the economy.

This is just a speculative theory I am advancing here. It would probably take an Australian Healthcare Economics expert to be able to look at this and tell what is actually going on.

My original point was that very often in national medical care systems, the upfront price that the patient has to pay does not represent the entire real cost of performing the procedure.

Another conversation primer is also the suggestion that somehow the normal competitive systems that keep costs down in the US aren't operating in your healthcare system.

Note, I didn't say that our healthcare was cheap, just it is comparably much more affordable. I'm even talking about the underlying costs that the providers and companies bill before the government subsidies.

Our government has been a great collective bargainer in this instance. And I'm not suggesting that government always does this well...

I think Vladimir Biden is nuts.

Letting them serve is one issue.

Expensive surgery so they can reverse what nature did is flat wrong.

When I got drafted, the military turned down all who needed medical help to serve.
