Trump and religion: 'A battle of heresy versus Christian truth' We ask Reverend William Barber about the significant support among white evangelicals for US President Donald Trump. ... "What we see is a fake kind of a religion, a distorted moral narrative, where evangelicalism has been hijacked," Barber said. According to Barber, evangelicals should focus on helping the most vulnerable members of society and tackle issues such as poverty. "If you're an evangelical Christian, your public policy is not driven by a Republican Party or Democratic Party, a concept of left or a concept of right ... It is driven by Jesus and what Jesus stood for on social issues of his time." ... https://www.aljazeera.com/programme...e-heresy-christian-truth-200228141336317.html It's bewildering what people are actually fooled by Trump's religious act. He has never been religious his whole life and he sure isn't religious now, and the way he plays at it is downright stupid and childish and as obviously fraudulent as can be, as he shamelessly panders to Evangelical voters, yet they lap it all up. It's incredible.
Considering the history of American Evangelical Christianity is there any surprise here? Low information voters is the engine that drives conservatism in this country. Stupid is as stupid does.
What is bewildering is how someone can make a universal case because of the opinion of one angry man.
