Few politicians in Washington, even Republicans, have ever defended our Christian heritage on the national stage as fiercely as President Trump. His executive order affirming the religious liberty of public school students is just the latest example.

For the first time in nearly two decades, the order updates federal guidance to better protect students’ rights to engage in prayer and other forms of religious expression. Under the new rules, schools must certify every year that they do not have policies that restrict constitutionally-protected religious rights, such as the freedom to pray or read religious texts on school grounds. Schools that maintain non-compliant policies would lose their federal funding.

I think it to be a good thing that the President is an outspoken advocate for religious liberty. For years atheists and secular progressives have been openly moving to eliminate or destroy these liberties and rights Americans have had since our founding. It’s good that at last we have a leader pushing back to protect religious liberty.

 

It is about time that the great evil that is secular progressivism is confronted head on and that the rights of believers to believe and to act on those beliefs anywhere any time in our daily lives from home to church to school to work, and to the public square. It’s time progressives be made to respect our rights as believers rather than trying to stamp them out and trample upon them.

 

It might help a bit here for you to lay out exactly HOW do atheists and secular progressives have prevented you from practicing your religion.

Keep in mind this is an OPINION piece my by Mike The Asshat Huckabee, not an actual report, so the incidents he cites aren't even backed up. He is presenting only his side of the argument.

I have no idea how old you are, but I can tell you from both personal experience and actual history that Evangelicals have always had a predominant say in politics and American culture, so much so that yes, in the 70's they started cracking down on the separation of church and state in public institutions. If you give Evangelicals an inch, they will take a mile. They always have and always will. Their called Evangelicals for a reason. They believe as part of their faith their mission is to convert the heathen, whether they like it or not.

I personally don't care if you want to worship an imaginary god in the sky. It's none of my business, but by the same token, I don't want to be proselytized outside of church. Why is that concept so hard for conservatives to understand?
